Probably all that wishful thinking in the Howard Linden thread.
Well, increasing the land to 1024 is one of the options in the survey they're sending out, so it wasn't impossible that I missed something. And I'm also concerned that Chaos might have inadvertently done something unwise with group land.

Went premium right before the weekly stipend changed to 300L. I have both mainland and estate land. I doubt I will ever return to free account.

There's a survey? Interesting.

Apparently they're hitting ex-premiums with it. About all the proposals I can recall from the Howard thread except for an external Jabber client for IM are in it.

Premium, primarily because of the increased level of service. (insert favorite LL joke here) I've had to use Live Chat just a few times, but it's been worth it for my business.

Free, and have been all along. I don't own land, and have no real desire to. I help people out and they give me space for me to rez stuff. I really see no reason to go Premium, right now.

Am very interested what, if anything, LL are going to do to make Premium more attractive - if they did, then I would probably become premium.

You mean that Linden Lab is doing actual market research to make a decision? Linden Lab isn't doing the usual task of making a completely internal guess, deciding without constuling residents, then pretending to have a discussion thread on an issue that has already been decided?

Wow, I'm impressed. Maybe the new CEO this year has been good for Linden Lab.

Perhaps the new behavior is make the completely internal guess, decide without any consultation, pretend to have a discussion thread, then pretend to do research with a survey, so that when they announce the decision they made in the first place, they can point to both the discussion and the survey results as justification.

That is certainly a possibility.

I can believe that Linden Lab is disfunctional, and would choose to avoid finding facts that do not fit with its perception of reality. (Since we know the sky is green, researching to find the color of the sky is pointless.)

I have trouble believing though, if they actually got the true facts, they would be just too stupid and ignore them. (I am staring straight at the blue sky, everyone around me confirms it's a blue sky, and yet the sky is still green.)

The survey could be merely a "we care" gesture, with all results going into the trash can. But after devising and collecting a survey, actually looking at the results would require so little extra effort, that I am going to have faith that Linden Lab will do so.

Premium since FD began, my 2003 alt and others though are free. FD for longest time was at the 75 dollar tier level that he paid, then friends donated reduced to lower amount until he sold, lost lots of land for mere 80 dollars when his initial investment can been over 300 usd and more. I own now 1536m, won't be owning more unless I get immensely wealthy or something close to that. Sadly my friends sim's were in the 4000 usd range when sold may have close to the 400 dollar range. I don't really need customer support or haven't in a while but I still prefer mainland and getting stipends for uploads. If they change it I will go to basic/free.

Oh, and I'm premium. For one, I want land, and after trying private estate as an alternative, I prefer mainland.

Second, I like having tech support available. From what I've read and heard, live chat is the only useful, reliable means of tech support available.

The price of premium is a big deal. On a quarterly deal, after stipend, the real cost is just around $2 a month. That's just about the right price for what I get. I would hesitate to pay any more, if prices were increased.

I'm premium. I bought an annual membership in June or early July and rented tier in order to buy a 1024 parcel.

I had thought about taking an alt premium in order to cover the tier on my own, but then a neighboring plot went up for sale and two memberships wouldn't have covered the tier, so I went on renting what I need beyond the one membership.

I got a link for an LL survey about premium membership in my email. It basically asked about different things LL might offer to enhance premium status and how important each would be to me. It seemed to cover most of the possibilities discussed in the thread above. (I wish I'd known they were going to cover so many. I ranked some of the early ones slightly higher than I might have, because I was comparing them against one another, rather than against all the possibilities that followed.)

I have had a premium account since the first week I started SL. I like getting my $L500 a week Stipend. It payes for my weekly classified ad. I will probably keep my premium account. If I was to drop it and then return, my stipend would be lower.. I don't really see the need to drop it since it pretty much pays for it self.

I have a premium/yearly subscription (300L/week) - but since I purchased a SIM, I don't really see a benefit for it - so will be not renewing unless they give some awesome perks (50 groups!)

When I joined SL in May 2007 I said I would *never* do 3 things:

1. Go Premium
2. Buy land
3. Own a business

A year later almost to the day I went Premium and purchased my first 512 sqm for, yes...a business!

Then I bought more land..and a bit more...and a lil more. Went Premium with my alt to get another 512 and group tier discount.

Decided I had bitten off a bit more than needed atm; tiered down, and went back to basic with alt.

But I love mainland, owning property and being Premium with my main!

Free, and an active contributor to the SL society and market. I run a couple of businesses, rent store space, sell services and products, and in-turn spend my earnings in-world and on SLExchange in the marketplace.

I have no need for land ownership and I have no intention of cashing out SL funds for RL money. So, without those two needs, there is no reason for me to go Premium.

free/basic account.

Not as free as it seems, I own estate land, which doesn't need the premium membership, and I pay tier about 10 Dollars a week for 1/3 SIM, no lag like the mainland, no insanely crowded SIM, just silence and tranquility. :)

Ive been premium since I started. With an annual subscription and L$500 stipend it pretty much pays for itself so dont see the point of stopping even though I don't own land.

This! If i was a later premium getting the L$300 per week though id have probably downgraded by now, L$500 is just the right amount to feel usefull.

I'm more free than a noob running around naked! I was premium, then the mainland went to hell in a hand basket (you can't even fly around 400-700m without seeing a whole bunch of useless crap!).
