Every once in awhile I can only see some of the people as smoke. Is there a way to get rid of the smoke and just see the person? Its just hard to talk to someone and not see anything but smoke. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

The smoke is because they have not ressed (like I'm saying anything you don't know) but I have found if I interact with them somehow they will finish ressing most of the time. If you have a Hello tool, just offer them a hug and see if that helps.

It's not a sure fire thing, it just helps to focus the vewier on that avatar and make them priority for downloading; kind of like hovering your mouse on a texture you want to see. That said I have spent a wonderful evening dancing and chatting with a cloud of smoke for well over an hour.

Shea,

The problem could be just on your end, or it could be on theirs. If it's on your end, Yosef's solution should work...or just zoom in on their av and hover your mouse cursor over their cloud for a minute.

Ask them if they see themselves as a cloud. If they do, have them try the following:

1. Have them rebake textures (CTRL+ALT+R). If that doesn't work, then

2. Have them enter Appearance mode and change anything (they can change it back). If that doesn't work, then

3. Have them call up the Advanced menu (CTRL+ALT+D). Then have them select Advanced/Character/Character Tests/Test Male (or Test Female). That should force the default avatar. Once they appear, they can then put on their normal skin and shape.

If none of that works, they probably have a communication problem with the server. It could be their internet connection is too slow. If they are on dialup, tell them to get broadband and come back after they have a *real* internet connection. If they are on a wireless connection...well, it's not officially supported by LL. Sometimes it will work, other times not. Not guaranteed. If they have a DSL or cable modem, have them log off, reboot the modem, reboot their computer, and log back on.
