Thought it might be kind of fun to create one for myself, but then feared I would be the only AV out there with one and no AV friends to invite. I hate to set trends. Or can AVs even make Facebook accounts? I'm a newb to Fb, so please bear with my ignorance.

you wouldn't be alone :D

Crunch has one and so do my alts, there's nothing on the pages there just linked to my RL one. i got them incase one day i thought i might need them, plus i can add them to those silly FB games that i get addicted to at work

there is also a cool aplication that you can link your avatar to onto your own facebook, i search for second life on face book search will find it. then you need to go to a place inworld to confirm it.

There are many many many SL avatars in SL. Plus the Lindens have a business network there.

The "Second Life Residents" facebook group has 4000 members.

"Second Life for Educators" has 2,340 members.

"Second Life" has 1,807 members.

There's a group called "Add Second Life to Available Regional Networks!", which I thought I started and forgot about for a second while doing this search, but I didn't. I start so many things and sign up for so much stuff I can't keep track of them all.

I did start a facebook group called pictures of Linden Lab in hopes that someone would post some pictures of the headquarters but basically no one has done so. Does anyone even have any pictures of Linden Lab?

There's even a libsecondlife facebook group, who'd a guessed?

Second Life avatars are all over the social networking scene.

I'm in facebook, myspace, orkut, mashable.com's social network, friendfeed, spock, plurk, plaxo, ... I can't remember them all. Oh yeah, SuezanneC Baskerville is in LinkedIn, and I'm not alone.

Facebook is the only one I look at much now, there's only so much time in a day.

I have actually used the LinkedIn "ask a question" feature and gotten an answer about the uWorld virtual world from a Hipihi virtual world marketing officer. That's good marketing, helping people with questions about their competitors. The uWorld people didn't answer.

If facebook had something a bit more like a forum it would probably be, ummm, better. It's kinda chaotic, and you can't post inline images in places where it seems to me like you ought to be able to, so in some ways it seems like it's not as good for having conversations as an old fashioned forum like this vBulletin forum or better yet an fully functional (and anatomically correct) one like sluniverse.

There's folks of all ages in facebook. I don't visit myspace much but I do get the impression it's more populated with youngsters than facebook is. Myspace pages are chaotic and quite often very ugly, but myspace does have some reasonably functional forums for it's groups.

There's several outfits working to bring 3D chat or virtual world-like applications into facebook. There's an ActiveWorlds facebook app, and there's SceneCaster, Vivaty, and others I can't recall at the moment.

I have my Facebook account under my Av, mainly because I didn't want my real name there to be looked up easily by people I don't want finding me. I don't use it primarily for SL by any means, in fact, it's mostly for my RL. Elora's picture is just a stand in for my face. All the info there is real information, not avatar info.

Feel free to add me as a friend, if you ever sign up. I'm sure you'll be bored beyond belief at my posts since they will have nothing to do with here.

I do, however, use Twitter for SL related items. For whatever reason.

Maybe I should try facebook. At the moment I have a load of my SL pics on Flickr and I also belong to SLprofiles but I'm not a very active member. I did have a Yahoo group but it didn't attract any members so I disbanded it.

It's used as a connection tool Yosef. Not a dating connection tool, a way to keep in touch with friends and family mostly. Like for instance if I wanted to let someone know what I was doing at some moment in time. Or even sort of like a mini-blog of your day, whatever.

It also allows you to upload photos, to share with said contacts. Other kinds of applications such as calendars, some fun things (I have an application called "100 Things About Me";). Has very detailed areas to list things about yourself, as needed. You put in as much or as little as desired.

I scoffed at it when was asked to first join, however, it has become rather useful and entertaining for me in my personal life. I enjoy reading the little snippets from my friends, and vice versa. Kind of brightens up my day.

I keep an album of photos of Iyoba on my Facebook profile and share some of the pictures with Second Life Residents. If you're in that group, you've probably all met the "li'l fat girl."
