I went a bought a pair of prim eye-lashes yesterday....just to see how they would look....GOOD LORD.....does one need a degree in brain surgery to fit these things properly. I put them on and I kind of looked like I'd just woken up from the night before and forgotten to take off my make-up.....not a pretty sight.

So would any of you knowledgable people have any hints or tricks about fitting prim eyelashes???

I have the Portia lashes from SinSkins. They are great.. Just wear them, no adjusting needed.

Not too much of a trick really...same as all prim parts, make sure to stand on a posing stand and Edit individual parts.

I have the eyelashes from Sin Skins as well and they are 5 prims total...I have had to adjust the 4 around the eyes as my avi has bigger than normal eyes. Just make sure the eyelashes are moddable. If they're not, might want to get the ones from Sin as they are.

You have to make sure your av is completely still. Use a pose stand, and turn off any emoter attachments such as a smiler or winker. Turn off your AO.

After that, it's just a matter of using care with the editing tools and camera controls.

Thanks Guys

Thanks everyone....

I did try the posing stand....but I still found it quite difficult. I might try the ones from Sin.... I did try to reduce my 'normal' lashes to 0 but unfortunately my shape is no-mod so I couldn't do that.. but I'll keep trying.....

Pocket, I also purchased eyelashes that were very difficult to adjust - I have large peepers - so I gave up because there was no way I would change MY eye size to compliment some eyelashes I bought for 25L. This was the 1st and only time I had seen eyelashes for sale and they were so inexpensive, I gave them I try (don't really go to skin shops that much.) But I see now, there must be better ones out there. :)

It helps if the skin has a lot of eyeliner. I have some no makeup skins that are truly impossible to add eyelashes to. I've been looking for more eyelashes. I know about Alady and Nuclear Boutique from before but not SinSkins. Any other stores that have good eyelashes?

Cake..

Well, I got mine from Cake...they have a few different styles and they look really good...but I might try those form SinSkin.....ones that need little or no adjustments sound just what I'm looking for.... I do think that the prim eyelashes make a nice little addition to the face...

Just got a pair from Sin Skin and I love them! Didn't think it would make such a difference. Had to tweak my eyes a bit (not much) but because I don't wear much make-up, was a great add-on. Thanx for the suggestion Brenda, and for the thread Pocket!

Celestial Studios has a wide range of prim lashes, and they also bundle a pair with most of their skins. They tend to be on the "Vegas showgirl" side.

Bree has a good point, but I'll turn it around. When fitting your lashes, use a skin WITHOUT much eye makeup, even a default skin, to make it easier to see the lashes. Put on the eyeliner after the lashes are fitted.

lol, I wear the ones that came with the Vogue skins and they aren't 'Showgirl' at all.

Still trying

I'm getting a bit better at fitting them but...and I know this is going to sound really ridiculous...but WHERE exactly should they be positioned..eg....do you position them where they would normally be when your eyes are open or closed... they look slightly strange when your eyes are blinking...

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense....don't know how else to put it.. :o

They don't move when you blink so my advice would be to adjust them to match open eyes. Make-up slightly masks the weird effect when blinking. Overall they look a hell of a lot better than the 'in-built' eyelashes so I forgive that fault :)

If you've been wearing your no-mod shape for a while and are really used to the shape it might be worth having a go at making your own. I've done this recently as I was really sick of having long in-built eyelashes and a no mod, no copy shape. Because I'd been wearing that shape for a year it wasn't too hard to recreate it myself as I'm so familiar with it. I'm definitely not ripping off the creators work as this is just for my use and I've been to their store recently and they don't sell my shape anymore anyhoo.

I second the Celestial Studios lashes, bought some from their Classic range yesterday and I love 'em! Not crazy big at all.

Turn that one around. It helps if you wear a skin with little or no makeup (even the default skin) while fitting the lashes. This makes them easier to see.

Once the lashes are fitted, put on your makeup.

[edit] And in case the OP wasn't aware...Edit Linked Objects is your friend. Don't try and fit the lashes as a single thing...select each upper or lower lash individually to position them. Then it's just a matter of using the position, rotate, and stretch tools until the lash fits, you crash, or you get carpal tunnel syndrome.

At last, we find the ladies DO have attachment difficulties akin to our "matching" problem!

Holy crap. I just thought about Windlight and what it's doing to people's skins. I have to start from scratch now, don't I?

Yes. And stop openly scratching yourself there. It isn't proper.

"We" was generic for Us Men. Some have never tried, some have tried and failed, a few have overcome the difference between object texture and skin. I didn't say I *couldn't* qualify, just that I'm not Carli certified. I can be available to a different judge. Want to volunteer? I can be an official mentor client, if necessary. :-)

Darn. You mean I have to go through the whole "getting to know you" thing and then the "first date' thing and then the whole "courting" thing, and... and... You're not one of those "not until we're married" girls, are you???

Tesla shoes are transferable, you know, and my bank account is relatively flush, and....

Say, you're not one of those "WHAT do you think I AM??!!!" kind of girls, are you?
