Over on the SLU forums there was a recent thread that had some really cool links to the web.archive.org site that show what the Second Life website looked like 4 years ago.
Dig back in there far enough an you'll find the original beta application page (I tried to apply, but i might be a bit late) as well as -- further back -- that a squatter had the URL at first.

There is some nice stuff there. A big Starax Achilles, the history stuff already mentioned. Also a cool planetarium that's a fairly new addition.
The main linden Village sims are Kirkby, Ambleside, Waterhead, Grasmere, Hawkshead, and Borrowdale. There's a Linden Village Extension with Beaumont and a couple other sims I never remember the name of.
Bonus points if you can find my resident bear, as well as any of the "Magellan Linden" goodies within these areas.
