The manager of my resorts has been ruthed for a few days now. Each time she logs in world she is ruthed, unable to wear anything but prim items ie: the flexi part of a skirt but not THE skirt base (great if she wants to be ruth in silks i guess lol) She has reinstalled the client...she has cleared her cache etc..waited for hours, but she cant even go to "edit appearance" (it says her clothes are still downloading and if she trirs to wear anything it wont work)and shes been sooo patient.

This has happened to me also since they tweaked the asset servers last week..but it cleared in a matter of minutes. I sorta inflated to full size, same with my partner. Also had items attach only to drop off as I walked off - stuff like shoes and cuffs & collars (no smuttiness intended lol)

She logged on as her alt to see if maybe it was a problem with her laptop, the alt was fine though , no probs at all....

Any suggestions what she can do? (she has logged a ticket, no response yet though)

Well, it *could* be a problem with her Inventory, I guess, preventing any clothes from downloading at all--which would absolutely require a Linden surgeon to repair--but if the Inventory were totally hosed, she should have all kinds of other problems. It might be useful to know what kind of errors, if any, obtain when trying to wear different clothing from Inventory. But to make progress on her own, the only thing I'd suggest is to make sure the "cleared her cache etc" included wiping the affected avatar's folder under Documents and Settings | <user name> | Application Data | SecondLife.

She should try logging in to a different sim. That sometimes helps my clothing load.

Interesting - here's another very similar thread from yesterday or so:
/327/ac/234784/1.html

All I have to add is the same advice I gave in that thread. As Qie suggested, completely delete your SL data directory. When you do this, you will have to reset your preferences on the next login. Qie gave its location in Windows; I'm told its location in Vista is:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife

You might also want to delete as much of the Temp folder as you can.

If that doesn't work, here's another thing to try:
Client > Character > Character Tests > Test male (or female) > relog > Log back in > Put back on your things

Please let us know if anything works, as others appear to be having this problem too.

Good luck!

Have you friend log on using a different computer.
If they are no longer ruthed then you know the problem lies with the files on that computer. Continue with the advise given above; remove / delete anything you can find. Re-install second life and try again.

Still ruthed? Then the problem lies on the server side. In that case, start by remove and detatch EVERYTHING. To remove the skin and shape, open the library folder in inventory. Find one of the stock avatars and put on a skin and shape listed there. Don't wear the one under "ruth", obviously :) try one of the stock male avatars.

Still ruthed? Ceate an new AV, and transfer what you can to the new character. If the new character becomes ruthed, move it all back to the original and wait for LL to fix the problem. I am sorry for your loss if this is the case. SL has it's stories of bugged AV's that can not or will not be fixed for what ever reason. rare, but it happens.

No longer ruthed? Put on one item at a time of the original AV. Wait for it to res fully. Then the next item. Most likely, if one of the items is bugged you will know it as soon as you wear it. With luck you will find a corrupted item is causing the problem. Just avoid that item and have a happy second life. Do not try yo replace it; just think of it as an allergy that avatar has to that item.

I hope it all works out well for you and your friend.

There's a Device called a Ruth Rocket. If you are ruthed, Rez it, and touch it, You will go shooting up very high as part of the effect, but it will End the ruthing Effect. it's available at a few of the newbie assistance Areas.
