I am student from City University of Hong Kong. We are doing a business project in Second Life. We plan to sell computers(virtual products) in second life. I know that computers in second life are not computers at all. We can not visit internet with web browsers in second life. but wee are trying to make it happen in second life. What we do is to add some buttons on computers, because it is impossible to type the website in second life. if you want to visit some website, you can click the button.
I want to know what functions do you want?
For example, you can check your e-mail account and visit Facebook, Google, twitter and so on in second life. I what to know what websites do you want to visit? Because we can only add 6-8 websites.
Besides, what else do you want? For example, record the people who visit your land.

I think what the OP is talking about is leveraging html-on-a-prim and/or parcel media and/or texture(s) to emulate a web browser on a prim, rather than the in-client browser... they have some scheme for actually getting this to work (again, me just guessing at intent) that involves placing prim-based browsing controls at the bottom of the display prim... and that their initial approach will entail significant hardcoding on their part, so they can only host(?) a few sites - and what's being asked is "assuming we can get something working soon, which sites would you like to see?".

Of course, it would help if they would re-phrase their information rather than simply pasting the same block of Engrish over and over... it's pretty obvious that the point isn't really getting across so far.

Before considering what functions people want, have you actually established that there is a demand for this product?

Just because things can be done in SL doesn't automatically make it the right platform. One such example would be facebook but it could be Ebay.

Please, tell me why I would start up my PC, load up a cumbersome viewer (compared with a browser), to then access a crippled product on which I can only access a subset of content.

Wouldn't it be easier for me to just close that window and open a browser and go to ebay?

I understand that this is a project but the most important part might be to find a product that actually has a market, I don't think you've done this yet? Then again, if it's just a project to make something for the sake of making something, you're probably not going to get great feedback if nobody can see or realise value in it.

I would NEVER trust any China-programmed thingie to take good care of my internet related access data in ANY form. Sorry, but get some other lab rats to hand over their identities to your "project".

Well you have totally changed your opening post now, but originally you made no mention of within second life. Just said you are building a computer and want to know what functions we would want. Then went on to list web sites.

Now you have made it a little clearer what you are actually asking, personally I think the only really useful things have already been done like movies and youtube. The likes of facebook, twitter etc you listed, if I was interested in them I would have them open in a different window as they aren't really something to do with your friends inworld.
