Well... you can turn off the (Away) status even when you're AFK from the Advanced menu... from memory: Advanced/Character/uncheck Go Away when Idle... So you could dance the night away while you're watching LOST on your TV... People might think you're just being very quiet...

The Lindens really need to fix the whole busy/invisible modes. Neither really work well. Busy is not a good workaround, in addition to disallowing receiving of inventory items, it disables the view of local chat. Invisible is not really invisible. Easy to see who's logged in at all times. The only way to guarantee peace & quiet really, is to log off...

or there's the choice of tracking down an AFK animation that also activates when you hit 'BUSY'. mine rezzes a newspaper that my avatar reads.

I like the busy, that way at least you know that they didn't respond because they hate you but they are actually busy....
The problem is I always forget to turn it off and go shopping on Xstreet... augh... I just did it like an hour ago.. and now.. who knows when the guy will respond.. his profile says he will be away the 24th but.. omg I needed those. anyway.

What invisible mode? They don't *have* an invisible mode.

Additionally, in Preferences where it says to Hide Group Title - that only applies to what you see. It does not affect what anyone else sees.
Gee... are you sure about that? I have a pretty strong impression that if you hide your group title there, it's hidden for everybody.

(If that's wrong, I apologize to anyone I may have confused with my Yiffy Kajira Clan tag. :o )

You are correct - it is that new setting of 'hide all group titles' that only affects your view (and 'hide my name on my screen').

I forgot that the hiding of group titles is how I keep everyone from knowing about all my really kinky groups.
 :D

if they scroll over you they will see who you are but it won't be out there for all to see unless they do..or you could set it to temporary where they scroll over you then it goes away..

The setting in Preferences, General, "Show Names: Never, Temporarily, or Always", and "Hide My Name On My Screen" affect how things look for the person setting them, not for other users.
