If there are going to be 30 avatars standing around doing nothing in the sim I pay tier in then it is going to happen on my parcels. Not in a unsupervised infohub being abused by loiterers.

I think I will go hang at the info hub awhile The ONLY thing you get in paying tier is being able to own the alloted land and the prims that go with the land. Not to dictate who can be on the specific ML sim. LL has made a dictatorship possible by owning a island, so you see LL has done something about it

I've visited a few times now. If anything, it seems underused compared to many other infohubs. Might be interesting to companre its traffic to a comparable sized one like Isabel and Hyles, as well as larger ones like Waterhead and Ahern.

Well I been here a half hour and got a couple pleasant IM's. Few people here but no worse than any Infohub Ive seen and this isnt my first visit here. some bad language at times but it is a M sim. Maybe someone jus likes to bitch?

Maybey someone gets peace and quiet for a few days when she bitches. These people like to stay under the radar and abuse the resources once you turn the lights on they scurry back into the crevices - for awhile at least.

Waterhead has traffic of 21,000, Ahern had 10,000. Morris on the corner of Ahern is full at 45 avatars now and has a traffic of 28,000. Traffic in Bear is at 11,000 in the infohub. It had peaked for a few weeks at 20,000 - but mostly maxes out at 15,000. It is good to see it going in the right direction. Making the land accessible to avatars under 30 days old only would keep the traffic at what it used to be - about 6000 a day.

interesting concept, no one over 30 days old needs info? Give it a break, LL will not go along, all your tier gets you is land and prims, nothing more. Unless you own a island. So, you do have a option to being a dictator, buy an island.

Its amazing how, I, just me, managed to get the entirety of bear regulars on the good side with Ryan. He fully complied with my requests and we complied with his, and apologized for what went on. You came in and stirred the same shit up again.

As far as Infohubs go, only the Hyles Swamp Infohub encourages 'kicking back' (loitering) and the Mauve Infohub encourages 'hanging out' on the parcel. Yet both of these do not have the loitering problem Bear Infohub has had in the last year (and Bear's land description does not encourage loitering). Hyles and Mauve have traffik that is at the level that a infohub that is in a simbiotic relationship with the surrounding sim should be (as Bear was before the older player loiterers doubled and tripled the daily traffik).

Who gives a shit what the traffic is. It's an info hub, it should be accessible by all. It's a public area. The lindens should agree on my stand on the topic, because after all, I pay tier.

Also, the one-liner for the Bear infohub is misleading. There is absolutely no mention of the fact that visitors there will get spammed to hell by the neighbours. Yet they do.

Actually, that info is long, long out of date. I paid the $9.95 back in late '06 when I created my alt, but LL hasn't charged that fee in a quite a while now. In fact, there IS NO WAY to PAY a one-time $9.95 fee for an additional basic account. It simply is NOT an option. If you make a basic account, it's free, period. And yes, the Lindens HAVE said this publicly, but have not bothered to update the info page that speaks of the $9.95 fee.

I have it! In order to make this thread die, let's start a drinking game. Whenever Lias says "abuse resources" you drink a shot. In no time, everyone will be passed out and this thread will die on its own.

(You could also play the game using "traffic", but someone might die of alcohol poisoning that way, and that's just not cool.)

What was once a quiet sim was randomly chosen to be a hang-out by people that like to hang-out in infohubs. A year of texture spam, 'hey look at me' antics and server abuses have reduced the sim to just your standard unpleasant mainland disaster. Attempts to protect it and it's surrounding areas from adfarmers and parcel cutters have been successful (I bought a parcel I didnt need in Gealain from Sara Nerd right before a bot got it last year. Then waited for my neighbor to log on and sell it to him to add to his parcel).

But since the sim is being held hostage by a out-of-control Infohub I see no reason for me or any other parcel owner in the sim to maintain the comfort level of these loiterers/chat campers. Notecard givers become spam when you constantly receive the same information over and over again. This is solved easily by not going to that same place over and over again. If visual muting is ever offerred you may be able to block out the Gun Range across the street from the Infohub. Until then - enjoy the view. And I now have an offical number of dance pads I can have out without the Lindens touching them. So if you try to teleport to your favorite loitering spot and the server is full just wait until one of your other chat pals leaves and you can pop in. I am not sorry for the inconvienience.

Max I am trying to show you that there is no mention of the infohuib being for community gathering. I know what I was told by Torley Linden in 2006. He asked did we want a place where new residents could enter the mainland and explore the sim. He did not ask did we want a unsupervised chat camping spot. The answer would have been NO and the parcel would have been sold and forgotten about. No good deed goes un-punished.

In 2006 I also thought my service provider knew what it was doing and was concerned for my well-being. I would have never assumed LL would not expend the man-power to make these infohubs what they said they were going to be. People that buy into Bay City are crazy. Your beautiful double prim paradise will soon be abandoned by the Lindens and you too will be in a mainland ghetto with an investment of time and money on your hands and no help from the bait-and-switch company that sold you the magic beans.

But it's all good.

One thing I must give Lias: She doesn't get tired repeating the same all over again and again and again and again and... well you get the point.

Too bad it will not help her one bit. The only person making the sim look like shit is... take a deep breath... indeed, Lias and her beloved Ryan. Good thing is the infohub itself is a very pretty building!

Meaning: I can go there, explore the sim (even without paying tier), share whatever I have to share with others, look at original art, even create stuff. Furthermore I can get helpful hints and information. Wow I should go there more often. Sounds like a nice place to be after all.

But... Torley asked wether Lias wanted a place where new users could enter the mainland and explore the sim. Please, my dear Lias, tell me where in that question I can read that no others are allowed to come there? English is not my native tongue so I may miss something deeply hidden. Ergo: your arguments are built upon very hot air.

We all know by now you want to keep up your fight like some Don Quichotte. Well have fun with it. Just know there is no way you are goin to win. You want to make the rules in the sim you have land in, and try to act as some Hitler figure. Well even Hitler needed votes to get in power, and it doesn't seem you are getting much support for your... nah let me try to keep it civilized.

After three years of maintaining a good looking sim I do not feel I need to keep it all pretty for loieterers/chat campers in an infohub. There is a cause and effect here. 'Cause they want to loiter I am building what I want, adding dance pads and info givers.
