From: Hugsy Penguin It refers to how far a guy gets with a girl. First Base = French Kissing Second Base = Hand up the shirt/play with her boobs. Third Base = Hand down the pant/play with her va-jay-jay. Homerun = Bow-chica-bow-bow. --Hugsy LOL Nicely put!

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's on the side that's in goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When three men are out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When both sides have been in and out nine times including the not outs
That' s the end of the game.

LOL Leave it to Brenda to reduce the game of baseball to a game of in-and-out. You aren't a Yankee fan are ya?

From: Czari Zenovka I must be older - the bases weren't quite like that when I was a teen.
1st Base was basically just a kiss...NEVER a French Kiss...that went more with second base
Now I'm reminded of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf...think I'll go play it. Yes, seeing french kiss as first base was a little . . .confusing.

I'm British and I reckon this 'first base' and 'second base' stuff just isn't cricket! Not that I understand cricket either!

I've got a kinda mixed background for my life so far and have lived in a number of countries so with my research I think "bases" for relationship barometer is North American but is a bit out-dated. I relate it with old-in-age friends who once used "groovy" (LOL!!! I luv that word! It's wicked!) I refer to my relationships as "friends with benefits" - even that is outdated but it keeps boys on an "even keel"

Well, it seems to me that they play for three days, with breaks each day for cucumber sandwiches and tea, and also at other intervals when rain stops play. There's a Silly Mid On involved in it somewhere along the line and people Googly a lot, which is nothing to do with Googling, although the latter does indeed help when you need to understand the leg before wicket rules. After three days it's a draw. -- Aes

I have county players in my real family from years back (but I have a pic of a female family member in 1916 dressed in her brother's cricket togs for a charity match for the "boys at the front" )so I admire cricket (but from the clubhouse) but if sex play was measured in cricket standards it would have to be in runs I guess and what about "not out" and "owzzzzat!"?

Swinging to the left and swinging to the right, if we think about baseball we can swing it all night!

I have friends and family who live all over the world and this question has come up in the past before. It brings all us Americans back to those awkward, silly days when we were in middle school (pre-teen to barely teen) and we all giggled at anything related to sex or bodily functions. I just want the poster to know we're not making fun of your question, we're just temporarily all 13 again.

The "bases" when I was a kid (yes, a long time ago) was used mostly by juveniles, and was already a bit outdated.
Good catch on the "interbase", Egroeg. I like your cricket description Aeslyn. I started watching cricket on the telly when I lived in Scotland. I took me months to figure out what the heck LBW stood for.
