Zoobys has some great boas that you can wear around your neck...the slithery kind, not the feathered ones. :o)

I myself would like to find a snake in an aquarium habitat.

He is no longer making things under that name and most of his stuff was no transfer. You are lucky that you got that.

He is inworld as an alt, but I don't know if the alt is creating things for sale.

thanks i will check that out but i would really love one for the ground especially a reticulated pythn, or a albino burmese python, heck any type of constrictore. I run a reptile rescue so snakes have a special place in my heart. I also want to find a sulcata tortoise to run around my land. ....imagine a sulcata running lol.

Starax made a name for himself very early in SL's history as one of the best prim-modeler's the world had yet seen. Not only did he all but single-handedly pioneer some of the most commonly used modeling techniques still in use to this day, but his creations always had an amazing degree of emotion to them. I'm sure it's no different with this snake you mention.

When I was brand new in SL, I had the tremendous luck of being Starax's neighbor. I don't mind saying I'm not sure I would have succeeded as a builder had it not been for his example. I probably would have just been one of those people who comes in with a little experience, gets frustrated by the unorthodox tool set, and then decides you just can't make anything good with it. Watching Starax saved me from that fate. His work was a tremendous inspiration to me at a very crucial time.

He eventually moved away, to Avalon, I think, and I fell out of touch with him. We talked maybe just a small handful of times over the next couple of years. Then one day I heard rumors that he'd disappeared. For a while, "where's Starax" threads were regular occurances on the forums. Every once in a while a cool build would appear with that tell tale hint of emotion to it, and people would go, "Is Starax back as an alt?" Then the build would disappear, and the rumors along with it. I guess you could say he's the Bobby Fisher of SL.

A lot of Starax's stuff used to be sold at Avalon. The island still has the same owner it had then, Fizik Baskerville. You might want to head on over, and see if anyone there knows where you might find any more Starax products, if any still exist. Good luck.

Guess it has been a while since this came up. There is a very brief interview with the former Starax here, with a sort-of explanation of what happened:

Thanks for that link. Just when I was bored and disillusioned with SL, I see these amazing images. It is truly art. I need to see some of those sims firsthand.

A while ago, I found several of Starax's art pieces for sale (including a snake) at very high prices, at a parcel on the west edge of DaBoom. The parcel went up for sale a couple of months ago, but due to its high price, it may not have been bought yet. The art is still there I think.

A bunch of his stuff went 'full perms' and is available here and there as freebies. Some unscrupulous people sell the free full perms stuff for tons of money. Before you pay, make sure it's something that you can't get as a freebie. There was a thread a long time ago about where you could find his stuff. After seeing the free full perms stuff for sale in various places for big $$$, I collected a bunch of it and put it in a freebie box at my store. I'll drop a copy on you. Anyone else wants one, just stop by the store and pick it up. Just look up my profile picks or do a search on Puppet Art to find it. While you're there, donations to the Relay for Life kiosk will be gladly accepted. :)

Oh, one more thing - if anyone who picks up the box happens to have something that's full perms that isn't included in the box, I'd love to have a copy.

It's the Rezzable Collectors Gallery, and you'll need closer to L$50k to pick up the large version of the Night Dreaming statue.. :O

Last time I went, a couple weeks ago or so, it was all gone. Too bad as they had some pretty rare stuff there. :(

There are some Starax items that were intended as freebies. Thing in a crate, Sampson, the fish and fish tank, and a couple others. Oyster Bay had all of them a while back.

On my way to your store, though :-)

That is my parcel still, but I sold my remaining pieces to Count Burks. His collection is very extensive, as is Tayzia's. There is also a good display of his work in the Pelham sim I think.

If I only had their free tier, I'd prob'y get dat lot from ya, too. I recall the count having an extensive Starax collection, but I did not know he also got yours.

I jes wish I'd bought some of his animals when he was still around. It taught me not to wait on things.

I'm glad this thread got brought back. I missed it the first time. I recently found the Samson statue, and had been looking for more of the Starax sculptures that had been meant to be free. Thanks for collecting those, Puppet! Glad to hear that he's still around SL working on other projects.

Starax certainaly made some amazing stuff, I could be wrong but I believe a lot of it was pre-sculpties, and I no doubt he is making better stuff now under another name if he is here, and unfortunately eventually after a few more graphic upgrades his stuff may start to look ordinary, and of course not work due to physics engine upgrades, but that is the thing about living in an evolving virtual world, your Silver Shadow Rolls Royce Mark 1 isn't going to cut it forever, you need to keep upgrading to keep up.

This is the stuff he's making now, including The Greenies, he's now Wave Light

I recently (last week?) added several more of the Greenies by Light Waves (formerly known as Starax) to my freebie box, which is now on v.3. I was surprised to find that so many of those were available for free!
