From: Amaranthim Talon You are slicing bunnies here.. the reason the media rants and carries on and creates self-fulfilling prophecies is because the idiots that don't realize they should think for themselves. Witness please "Global Warming" since renamed Climate Change 'cause the evidence didn't back the nomenclature - don't get me started on drilling for oil and before any one injures themselves trying to pigeon hole me- yes, opinionated, arrogant, imperialist all good adjectives - other than that- goof and semi- coherent at times goes over well also.
/We now return you to regularly scheduled inanity. Well... the real reason the media rants and carries on is for ratings. Ratings translate into money for the media, in the form of advertising dollars. That's why the old Rush Limbaugh programs back in the 1990's were sponsored by Cruex. At the end of each program a hand holding a can of Cruex would slam down on a table followed by the words "Cruex...Kills Jock Itch". People who had a jock itch problem were apparently a key demographic for that program, (or so the advertisers thought) and wanted to be talked to by Rush. People tend to watch TV to be told what they want to hear, it's not a medium that encourages critical thinking. I think it's funny though when people don't seem to realize that every single television sold in the world comes with an excellent life-enhancing feature known as *the "off" switch*.

Ah...I'm sensing a conspiracy here. Jock itch....declining problem due to Cruex....declining ratings for Rush as more cured folks turn off their radios in favor of other pursuits....there's a thread here I'm missing, but I'll keep this stream of consciousness thing going and find the connection.

If she has worked for this national chain and is promised a job there once she gets her licence, maybe she could wash hair, answer the phone and sweep floors at her future job until her licence has come trough? I doubt you would need a licence for that, even in Florida. Also, maybe she has neighbours that wants cheap haircuts? Or is it illgal to cut hair privatly without a licence? (I wouldnt know, not being american).
There is also plenty good advice in this tread of other sources of income or help. Print it out to her. Good luck to your friend.

My heart goes out to this poor family. Even if the OP is trying to scam us (I see it as a 50% possibility since I don't know her) and they don't really exist I know there are real people out there going through real struggles like this. I've known some of them. It's comforting for us to say that they have solutions at hand and all they have to do is implement them and that they were stupid for getting themselves into this mess in the first place. But I don't believe that not having what it takes to avoid getting into the situation necessarily means that they and their child deserve whatever suffering comes with it. As for finding help from agencies in Florida, or finding one of the jobs that we want to believe is surely out there: even that takes a certain amount of knowledge, skill, and energy that young frightened parents often don't have. It's so easy to feel panicked and helpless. And plenty of people find themselves on the street before they figure out how to avoid it. I can understand OP trying to help her friends (whether truth or fiction). I wish I had some way to help everyone in the world acquire the life skills that would keep them safe from this sort of situation. As it is I'm not in a position to do too much, and what I can give goes to people and organizations that I know.

From: Amaranthim Talon I am in Miami- on every street corner you can see the people from Homeless Voice or similar name collecting for the homeless. There are jobs to be had definitely. Assuming- yet again- this is true, there are better ways. There are places hiring- there are- seriously. Wages may suck but they are out there.
(Alert- political rant)
The media has done a real good job of torpedoing our country in an effort to bring down the current political regime - they told us enough times the economy sucked and now it does- however - we are still Americans- and there are jobs to be had. Lawns need mowing, dishes need washing- There is no such thing as jobs Americans won't do. /political rant High 5^'s!! I knew there was a reason I liked you, Amaranthim!!! /me waves to you from Central FL (Grew up in North Miami Beach )

Ok- I don't know much about the household and at this point don't care to.. Not my biz...
BUT- If what you say is true.. You can go seek help with the Government offices. They have food stamps, and can sometimes help you with things that your in need of.
If you have a child in need they will help you. Make sure when you go to them places you have all your FACTS in a row. You will need social security cards, birth records, Something from the land lord. I don't know what you would be entitled to.
As far as the Dad.. He can go get a DAY job.. *Even the mom or anyone that lives in the house can get a Day job, And they pay the same day in most cases. I know years ago they use to buy blood, but that is just freaky. They have companies there that do Day labor. Look them up in the phone book.
Moving out of state to a new one with out facts in place is just .. Bad bad bad.
