I think those with 2 or 3 Bots or campers will remain underneath LL radar and most likely will be untouched as the traffic figures won't look too disimilar from popular venues with natural traffic.

I don't think that LL will provide clear definitions of bots as they are used for traffic numbers, but leaving yourself logged in doesn't make you a bot for that period although, in the mind of one forum user, it does.

I definitely think that being afk makes you a bot. And I think if a number of afk avatars are gathered together on a parcel then the parcel owner should be punished.

Make that 2 forum users :)

It would make an avatar be like a bot to other people for that period, provided that the period is quite long, but not actually a bot.

Anyone see any noticable changes today? In the Places tab results, for instance? I don't see any.

A store that generally had a traffic count in the top five to ten....I think that would be over 100k a day, for it's particular category....had a traffic count of 16 for yesterday....for the whole sim. Noticed several like that.....they must still be looking over their employment apps....figuring out which campers to hire.

Even if it only lasts a week....sure does put some things into perspective.

Depending on the time that the sim gathers the traffic data, combined with the time that this information gets to the central server there can be over a day elapsed between a parcel becoming empty and the traffic ranking taking effect.
When I did some tests to determine how traffic was accumulated, I had to run the tests over a number of days to get the full cycle of events.
I'd give it 2 days to see the overall effects of various people voluntarily removing their bots and people doing that after a warning for LL.

I'm watching a few now, that still have the high count.....but the sim is empty....their new counts will change any time now.

Also watching to see "who" is going to push it. "Who" is going to wait for the warning.....and simply leave the bots out until the warning comes.

Land bots aren't being touched at all, so there's no need for concern on account of that.

I got that tidbit of information right here off the forums. I can't believe something posted on the forums misled me and was untrue ;)

Right now, a Places search for "Furniture" shows on Map places where weekend shoppers must be testing high-rise bunk-beds.

LOL

I'm having a bit of difficulty distinguishing between free sex places and bot users that may have spread out their bots....pretty clear if 30 dots are lined up in a row....unless...there is one heck of a free sex party going on.

There seems to have been a slight drop in graveyard shift numbers indicating some 24/7 bots may have gone, I'm wondering if they truned bots off or had LL just kicked their IP.
Also I wonder if they are working on the campbots as well, it sems strange I can get 3 or 4 AV's appear as soon as I add cash to my money tree and many of them seem to be unresponsive..........

The logged in number hasn't changed all day. Coincidence? Where have you found numbers, Tegg?

The logged in number only changes now when you start the viewer, it's not live anymore :)
I've been seeing as low as 45k online which I think may be 10k lower than normal over the last week or so

I watched the number each time I started the viewer earlier in the day and it didn't change. I've just started it again and it still hasn't changed. It's still showing 76,942.

They said that their method would be to check out the highest ranking places and warn the owners if they found traffic bots.
I'd guess that they will start with the obvious bot farms and work their way down.

The steady count of 76,942 indicates

1. A dying bot will not amend its concurrency, unless this conflicts with Rule 42
or
2. Someone has developed a system to log bots in and out as people log out and in
0r
3. SNAFU

#2 is a distinct possibiliy.

#3 I don't even understand.

But I go for #1 - sort of. LL have fixed it so that the concurrency indicates the number that would have been logged in had bots not disappeared.

I've just dragged Map over the entire grid and counted the green dots

There are only 5,379 green dots.
Most of these are in furniture stores and sex places.

Yeah! With a big mouth :)
- In the genes from both parents.

Can you *imagine* what the bot would be like as a hormonal teenager?

There certainly does appear to be passion in the interactions.

Maybe they don't want people to know the numbers until they've seen what effect the "supposed" removal of bots will have.

I really wish the Lindens would post these things here in the forums also(or have they?). I dont go to the blogs at all being I find it sort of like model directions in finding the answer(s) I need.

Anyone have the link please?
