Doubtful they exist. Casinos are banned outright. About a year ago, huge take down, grid wide. True you can play for anything but cash, and it can't be a random chance, has to be based on skill. But the casinos were there for the cash, and a lot of it. From a 2+ year old avie I will say this. The scandal alone of the grid wide casino take down cost millions, not Lindens, real American dollars. Banks crashed, stocks collapsed, people learned how much they really have at stake regarding cash flow and gambling. Some literally lost tens of thousands, I know a few personally. So finding a casino post chaos, it maybe a bit tricky. I have a midway that gives prizes, but i would never use any gambling machines on my land, not after that drama.

It seems LL is allowing slots and card games (blackjack included) back as long as a points/credits system is used. I've seen two such instances in the past month. They both have signs up saying they are Linden approved, are in search and have been open for awhile. They use a credit system....you buy merchandise and get credits added to your account, you then play the games with your credits which in the end you can cash out of the machine in lindens. You can not trade your initial credits for lindens, but theres two options on the machines to payout...Credit and Exchange. Credit adds to your credit balance and exchange will send the equivalent in credits to you in lindens.
Like I said I've seen two....one of them has been open for awhile now and I don't care for it much, the other one opened about 2 weeks ago and then shut down after a week, sending out a notice that they had to change their system. I don't know if this was because of the TOS or because maybe the machines were paying out too much and the owner shut down. The sim is still open and they are planning on re-opening the gaming hall. They have detailed explanations of the approval process they went through and how it is in compliance with the TOS, one even thanks certain Lindens. |

While LL handled it atrociously, the Casino Banning wasn't a scandal. It wass LL complying with Laws they were compelled to comply with, whether we agree with them or not. To do otherwise would have jeopardized SL and LL as a whole.
That being said, they could have handled it better, giving casino operators a chance to prepare for it. They knew it was coming, yet just decided to lower the boom in one fell swoop. _____________________

SLX has 2 blackjack systems for sale that say they meet TOS requirements but I failed to see any working models online.I think this is strange,if they are legal why not show them?

I thought it might relate to flimflam, or perhaps flan.

Big question of the day: Will the forums ever have a new user named Chaos that isn't assumed to be the old Chaos that we all know and love?
Answer: No. As long as they all keep behaving the same way, they're probably going to be treated as the same person. Tomorrow's question: will he _ever_ learn?? |

edit: u have been AR'd for flamming I wasn't flaming you, Chaos. (Observe the correct spelling of that word, btw.) I was simply stating that you are being a nuisance, which is pretty mild compared to almost everything you utter... which you have proven again with this reply, I think. Have a nice day. ![]() _____________________

I'm not sure I see what the problem is with Chaos's question, unless the idea is just that Chaos shouldn't ask anything.
I don't know about gaming places that use points instead of money, although doesn't Rhaorth have an arcade? I've been meaning to visit, but get too interrupted when I log in. Rha, do your games use points? There are also many Zyngo places around SL. With Zyngo, you pay money, play the game, and can win money, but it doesn't violate the gambling ban. Some Zyngo places look very much like what you expect a casino to look like. But playing legal games in a big ornate flashy building that looks like a casino also doesn't violate the gambling ban. |

I agree, I saw nothing wrong with what he asked. And this time he was relatively tame in his response. He is the only one I see who gets singled out for foul language. It doesn't occur often in here as a whole, but he is most definitely not the only one who uses it. _____________________

You're right - there wasn't really anything wrong with the question itself.
I think people are being proactive and getting their jabs in before this thread ends up like virtually every other thread started by people named Chaos. It's a Pavlovian thing. |

Mmm... in before the lock.
Just from a purely abstract standpoint, gambling games for "points" somewhat equate to playing Hearts on the PC: mostly harmless, and a good way to sate the addiction without losing a whole lot of money in the process. That is, unless those points attain a real world value, a la cashing out. Either way, gambling is gambling. As nice as it'd be for this to be aimed at a healthy way to curb the addiction... something tells me that isn't the aim here. _____________________
