As we already know, Tier prices for old 'Grandfathered islands' will remain the same untill the end of 2007. That is fast approaching !!
Will mainland tiers remain the same?
Apparently it is common knowledge as to what is planned?
Does anyone know, or want to know, what LL will do at the end of 2007 to sim tier prices?
I have already tried a support ticket and was told that it was 'already common knowledge' and that 'we would not give that information out to individuals, that would not be fair' (totally agree).

If it's common knowledge what's the harm in pointing individuals to the location of this information?

The only thing I'm (admittedly) vaguely aware of is that the old "grandfathered" sims - I THINK -were to be moved up to the (later) standard $295/month? November comes to mind.... Inc

Hmm, a tier increase for mainland sims would not be a good idea..unless I get a break for owning a lot of land..cause I would have to dump some to remain fiscally sane and there goes the nice open spaces for people to enjoy.

Considering how badly they want more premium members, a tier increase would not bode well to achieve that end.

From: Ciaran Laval If it's common knowledge what's the harm in pointing individuals to the location of this information? There is no location, what was being said is that if they were planning a price change to mainland tier prices, they wouldn't tell a single individual, they'd tell everyone, at once, when the change went into effect.

My guess is that they already announced their intent on what to do with the grandfathered sims in the Voice FAQ (they comitted themselves to a 60 day notice as well, so we'd know by November for sure): From: someone Island Owners will have voice for their land at no cost until the end of the 2007 calendar year. After this, Island Owners will be asked to pay a monthly fee for voice if they are not already at new pricing that includes voice. Going forward, they'll probably just keep the current grandfathered tier, but keep new features out of reach of grandfathered sims until they finally give in and start paying full price.

All I can say is that if they raise tiers on class 4 sims they ARE insane! The only POSSIBLE thing they could do to raise tier on people paying $195 a month now is to auto-upgrade them to class 5 machines. (2-2.5x script performance IS nice) But even f they do that I'm scaling back to 2/3 my holdings. Maybe less, not sure my rentors would stand for a 50% price increase too well... And finally if they plan on NOT including future features like voice in class 4 sims (like they SAID they were going to do intitially), then count me in on that deal!!! I could easily do without windlight as well.

Tier is already rediculously high. If they are dumping all these mainland sims at the old tier just so they can raise it on us next year, I will sell at a loss and leave SL. It would be shoddy business and I would not support it with a single penny.

When LLABs said all islands/sims were raising prices everyone was made. Thats why the price increase was changed, and then later said they will raise all island/sim cost the next year.

Well, if prices don't go up by atleast the real-world rate of inflation then in real terms prices actually go down by staying the same. So yeah, they will go up regularly - that should be taken as a given.

I can forsee a mass of old sims being placed back on the market.......so if you think the grid is already full of "Yellow blocks".....you ain't see nothing yet!

It would be shoddy business and I would not support it with a single penny. That would be exactly what a lot of people would do--at the same time. It would cause yet another pillar of the SL economy to falter if there was a significant increase. I'm hoping mainland tier doesn't increase either, as that would mean I would need to tier down -- or out as well. I imagine many people would be forced to abandon large stretches of land to Gov. Linden in such a scenario since everyone would run for the door. I can't imagine LL being profitable in the long run with sim after sim of abandoned land that no one is paying tier on to keep the server going--so my bet is that mainland tier will *not* increase much. At least maybe the increase would be for new sims sold after the announcement. My fear is that LL would not increase costs to hold a smaller amount of land but eliminate or reduce the discount one gets for holding large amounts of land.

why is it a given they should go up, when the hardware becomes outdated and bandwidth gets cheaper every day? Now if LL gave us fair warning, like 90 days notice or do it before they dump a whole continent of sims on us, that is a different story. But once again, their horrible communication, or lack thereof is the root of the problem. Sigh, I hate rumours.

Could you imagine the scenario if LL announced as well as old PIs's, that tier on Mainland would also increase by a signigicant amount! I shudder to think the impact as a whole it would have on this game!

If the prices do indeed increase I am another that will sell off all of my mainland (paying the $125 slot now) as it just wouldnt be profitable. Shoot, at this point I am scrapping together enough to pay the tier without it coming out of pocket just so I can enjoy land and a store...I wouldnt dream of charging my renters more for MAINland rentals when there are tons of ISLAND rentals that would be at the same price. Who would pay for that, even if the area is fantastic? No one, thats who. Unless they plan to upgrade every server to class 5, I think they would have a mass of complaints on this one that would set them back a year or two. Dont even wanna think about it.

They said it will get raised way back...

Looking back on how LL has handled things like this... you can see LL pattern they will raise it with no or very little notice. Look at how they have always treated the customers a very nasty thing awaits us and all to soon
