Okay - not fair. Lol I am in a buildoff this weekend. SL was borking yesterday too - prims jumping, textures loading or not loading, perms changing. Screen freezing a few times requiring a relog. So I stayed up all night - with fewer people around the lag was better enough I could build. But now it's morning, people woke up, so did SL. Oops, SL was borked worse today A lot of others noticed it, too. This time no one could function. People began wondering out loud. People were walking around in grey clothes. They decided to restart the sim. I hadda bad feeling. Still, I quit to log in again. Mistake! I got in, but was sent to a hub, instead of my house. Once there, I was missing a shoe and all my hair. Also the prim to the dress I had on. Took 3 locations roundabout to get back to the buildoff site - when I got there, I could barely move, everything was grey. And I was still bald and shoeless, and others saw it that way it wasn't only my server. Began to rez anyway - who cares what I look like, right? Opened a group chat because someone sent me a texture and BLOOEY. Crash. Third time in the past little while. So anyone else? Let's share the misery. LOL The house was mostly done, was just a bit more to do, so if you get in world, IM me and I will tell you where to go and check it out. There is a people's choice award too. I am not going to vote for myself. If you go, vote your conscience/favorite. It's all for fun. I just wanna finish what I started, darn it. Sigh

There is lag and the land is flashy. This is now so commonplace I am not sure what a steady sl world should look like.

I've noticed this is VERY bad today, but it's been really horrible since the "new" website came on - and incidentally I've noticed the web site is laggy too.
I believe this is related. The site seems to be sharing a lot more data with in-world and it's buggering up the whole SL experience. I am not a happy resident this weekend

Database down

Yeah, they say "some" residents have problems in.world on their grid status page. They certainly adress the somehow 20 k (bots not counted) who still try desperately to rez their clothes or whatever.

Yeah, it's absolutely *terrible* today. Sculpties not rezzing, items missing from database, grey textures, TPs even more hit-and-miss than usual. Basically, nothing's working.

Okay I got in, this time I was able to log in to home, and had my prims. Hair and boots and skirt prim, yay. Went back to the location - started to type something and bam, frozen as a popsicle! Hadda hard-quit again. Gonna stay out so I can type something I need. Then will brave the frozen wilderness once more. Lol. An' I just had a bit more, then I could sleep. Been up all nite. This is painful. If I sleep I might sleep too long & not finish. If you go just know there are a few finishing touches to be put on. Oh and clicky click everything you can. IF you can.

Yeah, if you have nothing urgent I'd say, try later tonight. Maybe whatever is going on will be done then?
Er I mean, no, but go and see the building contest and Honeybear's fashion show too. haha

Ty
Yep took a long time to get some scripts working, now I think it was just they weren't resetting due to lag or whatev.
But we have to make all or most of it anyway (anything that's to count), so no probs with that.

I've pretty much quit using SL for building. I set up Open Sim on my home system, with 9 regions running across 2 modest computers (Pentium-D 805's) I see 0 lag and do all my building. I use Meerkat viewer to import the builds in SL when they are complete. Also OS is great for doing animation testing, so you can see what they really look like instead of just a preview, has saved me thousands of lindens in upload costs.
Maybe you should ask the sponsor of the build off to do it on Open Grid next time. A lot less lag in there than in SL.

From: Clarissa Lowell I am in a buildoff this weekend. You've been in SL for about 3 years now? And you don't know better than to expect anything besides massive failures on weekends?

SL is totally borked today. I was going to do some work this morning but that is not possible. So I thought I would go to a club and listen to some music, hmmm, well I would if I could get dressed that is. So I just logged off. I hope it will be better this afternoon.
I just hope all the things that showed up as "Missing from the database" are back once this is over.

Now you guys are scaring me.
I logged in, changed from the prim skirt I was building into a pair of shorts, visited several plots of land for sale I had marked last night to see if any of them "called" to me. Didn't try any building or scripting.
Why is that scary? Well, I looked fine on my screen - now I am wondering what the rest of the world saw!

From the posts on this thread, the issues seem varied. I'm wondering if that is dependent on the viewer version, individual computers, etc. In my case, my clothes are ok (on my screen...now that Nic mentioned it, I think I'll stay inside my house today...lol) but script tinkering is borked.

I know that last night every single group was showing as ???? ????, which was bad enough. Given that we were setting items out for sale, I can only hope the permissions weren't borking at the same time.

I just spent the past four hours painstakingly aligning textures (I hate aligning textures). I think my sim just got reset. I hope the rollback doesn't wipe everything out. *growls*
