Oh that reminds me of a comic strip I saw once. I wish I could remember which one.
But essentially, everyone on earth was suddenly a genius. Everything ground to a halt. Who wanted to flip burgers any more? Who wanted to do anything mundane or menial? (I am not insulting the IQ of people in those jobs - this is what was in the strip.)
It is an interesting question, though. Kind of like if everyone suddenly was a supermodel or movie star on the outside. Wouldn't everyone want a desk job being paid to think, or a modeling job being paid to wear swimsuits?
(Going by the example of Christopher Langan, not all. But still - there may be a reason nature distributes gifts somewhat evenly.)

From: Desmond Shang This technology is far too dangerous, until the release of the "Can I have all your stuff?" superweapon, which would restore the balance of power.*
*likely, this superweapon would be a casually released fragment of open source code *More likely, it would be a casually released untested fragment of Second Life server code .

Or the person who wants to make the best burger he can for his customers? Or we would invent robots to flip burgers. I have known lots of "smart" people in menial work. I had a shipping clerk one time with a PHD. The warehouse was hotter than hell, dusty and the owners were crooks, but the guy had an easy simple job. All he wanted was enough money to buy books and have a hot plate in his room.

From: Skell Dagger I'd give it to Gollum, so he could dance backwards into the fiery throat of Mount G'al and destroy it forever. I dunno... Mount G'al isn't very fiery these days...
