That I owe other people nothing I don't wish to part with - Also that anyone who insists despite my wishes is not thinking of my best interest. Lesson learned once aforementioned persons came unglued.

Hiding groups and disabling group notices is nice. (Hiding groups) also makes being stalked/harassed less easy.

On a less serious note -

Renaming folders would've saved me a lot of work later.

Can't think of anything else.

Yes I did go to boarding school. At the ripe old age of 12. Oddly enough, although I didnt realize it at the time, I was really popular and friends tell me know that I was super-sweet to shy girls and helped them no end to settle down. I also thought teachers hated me but it seems some of them liked me and were sad when I left. Girls danced together and one woman now tells me that she has always remembered me as being a great "partner" in dance class, "socials" and raves.
It's odd isnt it, how we impact and affect other people's lives...

OK, what I really wish I'd known was not to use my usual web handle as my SL first name. (Not the Lear Cale one, which is an alt; wish I'd started with that!) I wouldn't want, say, my innocent little niece to google that name and find disreputable pics someone may have posted on flickr, for example!

Not that it's mattered; I just get paranoid now and then, but not enough to ditch my main and start over.

And not that I'd ever do anything disreputable!

School uniforms were actually kinda cute. The skirts were really well made and my blazer was very chic. I always wore Clarks shoes.
