Where I first learned of this was on http://slcn.tv/ specifically this episode: http://slcn.tv/tonight-live-paisley-beebe-02nov2008LL made "Second Life Ballet Company" had to change their name to something else, which is now "Ballet Pixille." I was intrigued because I have seen so much SL this and Second Life that, within Second Life and also on the web, regarding to websites relating to the in-world SL group or business . . . even SLCN would be in violation, it seems of this rule. So where is this line drawn? Scenario: Someone starts a business in Second Life called Second Life TeaPots, they create a group for this business called SLTP. The business is doing great, so they are wanting to build a website that has information pertaining to their in-world business, so they purchase SLTeaPots.com and create a website that talks all about their business in-world and a with SLURL to their store. Would this scenario, be a violation or not? My reading of the rules would be, yes it would be in violation. However, some of you like Jezebella, have a differing opinion on that . . . So what is the official stance on this? Does LL ever comment on these forums to give an official answer?

From: Shaindaman Fiertze [...]even SLCN would be in violation, it seems of this rule. So where is this line drawn? My understanding is that you can use "SL" in your website, business, or group name, so long as it conforms to the requirements for such use listed at: http://secondlife.com/corporate/brand/trademark/sl_insl.php From: Shaindaman Fiertze Scenario: Someone starts a business in Second Life called Second Life TeaPots, they create a group for this business called SLTP. The business is doing great, so they are wanting to build a website that has information pertaining to their in-world business, so they purchase SLTeaPots.com and create a website that talks all about their business in-world and a with SLURL to their store. My understanding of LL's trademark rules is that "Second Life Tea Pots" would be a violation because it uses the full "Second Life" mark. "SLTP" as a group would be a violation because it uses the "SL" mark, but not with the required minimum of two generic nouns. "SLTeaPots.com" would be okay because it does have "SL" mark followed by two generic nouns.

Wound not SLTP as a registered group name be okay as it is "acronym for" Second Life TeaPots or even SL TeaPots? So what if this was then the scenario:
The "Land" or "Business" name within Second Life : SL TeaPots The "Group" name associated within Second Life: SLTP The website associated with it: SLTeaPots.com
Would that be within the 'rules?'
