A nice person in this forum sent me some poses. When I click activate, it makes me pose contantly with different poses as if I'm at a model shoot. How do I make my avie pose in a more natural way. Am I able to select one pose? For example, when my character is just standing there she can fold her hands behind her back for instance.

Sounds like you got an animation overrider instead of a single pose. Yes you can get single poses and play them in world or locally and just do that pose.
How to get a specific one? I am uncertain, sorry. _____________________

You probably want an AO (animation overrider). They constantly cycle you through several poses, as well as walks, sits, flying animations, etc, if you so choose.

I have created an animation override from natalia zelmanov's tutorial. It's nice and I can change the poses easily.
It changes between 3 (i think) standing poses but in a natural way. She changes pose as you would if you stood in one position for too long.It has 1 walking animation but there are spaces to add lots of different animations/poses. 1 of the standing ones is standing with hands behind my back. I might be able to drop you a copy if you want. Its in the form of a bracelet. You would need to check out her blog at http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/07/day-307-animation-override-ao-tutorial.html and http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/12/day-72-pre-show-check-and-putting.html if you want to change the poses though. It also tells you how to work it. EDIT: I also have tons of poses if you want some. I will have to check if they are copyable but if you want some you are welcome to them. There are some nice ones in there if you prefer a single simple standing pose. _____________________

Once I do, do I just "wear" it and it will always work? I don't mind having a few going on at a time. I just didn't like the one that I had that was WAY over the top. ![]() |

I am uncertain, sorry. Hi Lexxi, I just want to get something that makes my character do little movements when she is just standing there...kinda like how a person would in RL. I also wish I could make her walk more attractive. I heard that there are shoes you can buy that give you a walk. Are there other ways to obtain a better walk? |

Yes you can buy one and wear it. It will not "always work" because sometimes you will need to turn it off for one reason or another (to use dance poseballs or the like) and then you might find that scripts are turned off and now you can't get your a/o to work. Don't worry, it will work again, once you have gone to land that allows scripts (you can enter land with no script and have your script work if the script is already active). Abranimations has some animation overriders. You can demo them to see if any fit your desires. if you get one all you have to do is wear and turn it on (ao on) or off (ao off). I wrote the above before I saw the direct question to me. Yes, from what you say, you want an animation overrider. And yes you can buy one that is premade or get a free animation overrider that doesn't have anything in it and then you fill it up with poses and walks (as in you can buy your own standing poses (the little movements while you are standing still), walking animation, sitting, flying, typing, etc). You would then buy the individual poses and insert them into the animation overrider. I know that you can do that but I have never done that. I have only bought premade animation overriders and left them as is. _____________________

Great. I will check out Abranimations when I get home from work tonight. Thanks so much. Glad to help There is also something called "Animation Warehouse" (look for that in search) that has many many different animation creators. Just make sure that what you are buying is an animation overrider or just a single pose._____________________

if you get one all you have to do is wear and turn it on (ao on) or off (ao off). Some AOs are HUDs (Heads Up Displays) which appear on your screen rather than attaching to your avatar. In that case, you click buttons on the HUD, rather that talking to it in chat. Animation overriders are one of the most confusing issues for new Residents, so there's no need to feel 'stupid' for not understanding them. ![]() _____________________

I normally use something without a HUD, though, as that eats up part of the screen. The Abranimations one is huge and I haven't been able to resize it though I'm sure there is some method of resizing or hiding it. ![]() _____________________

If the AO is modifiable you can remove poses and add poses. I have no idea how to do that though, and turn you over to someone that does know ![]() _____________________

I believe the links Claire posted will walk you through modifying an AO.

I will send you a copy of my bracelet anyway, you can see if you like it. Fully moddable. It's just a prim with a script. You probably got one for photo shoots or something. You basically just wear the bracelet, turn it on and off you go. You remove the bracelet or turn the script off to stop it. It is *very* easy to change the animations. You just need the poses in the prim. I'll explain it all anyway. It's worth checking if it is ok before you go buying loads of things but you could always buy poses to put in it. _____________________

I have a really nice AO which has some more natural stands and a nice feminine walk that isn't too over the top sexy. It's called ZHAO Breeze. I didn't buy it inworld, although I'm sure it's available, if you do a search for it. I got mine from SL exchange. If you're not familiar with that, it's a website that links to your SL account, and you can purchase from there, and the purchases are delivered to you inworld. It's very convenient, although there might be a limit from the time you sign up to when you can add lindens to your account on their and purchase products. But you can use it up until you're able to purchase as a nice search engine. Just go to www.slexchange.com and you can sign up. Then search for animation overrides, or ZHAO (there are a few ZHAO AO's out there, I think, but I think the breeze is a very nice one) Once you get familiar with them, you can also add your own poses that you buy from any of the animators. Animations Warehouse is a great place, too, and huge. They have all kinds of animations and poses from many different SL scripters.

Sometimes one or more of the built-in standing animations can be useful in transitioning between other, non-standard standing animations. They're called "stand", "stand_1", "stand_2", "stand_3", and "stand_4". Most AO scripts are perfectly happy using those built-ins, without them being in the Inventory of the AO.

It also tells you how to work it. EDIT: I also have tons of poses if you want some. I will have to check if they are copyable but if you want some you are welcome to them. There are some nice ones in there if you prefer a single simple standing pose. I went to that website and printed out the instructions. Thanks a bunch. |

Don't forget to check out what AOs are available for free, before you start buying them. Freebie Dungeon and Freebie Warehouse are two names on the top of my head as places to find free AOs.
You can get AOs as packages (a HUD with an animation for everything- a walk, a sit, a few stands), or you can get the HUD separately from the animations, so you can mix-and-match your own animations. The ZHAO animation-override HUD is free and easy to use (you can get it at Animation Warehouse if I remember correctly). For myself, I just use the ZHAO, and I only put five animations in it (3 stands, a walk, and a sit). Personally, I don't need a special fly, or crouch, or swim, or others; at least, I don't need them enough to spend money on them. If you go to buy animations, there are a lot of stores selling them, and most have posing stands that allow you to see how the animations look on you before you buy them. Before you start buying a lot of animation, I recommend going around to four or five stores just to see what's available, and write down any animations that you like so you can come back and buy them later. That will save you the expense of buying a lot of animations you like at one store, and then going to the next store and finding a lot of animations you like better than the ones you bought at the first store, then going to another store and finding a lot of animations that you like better than the ones you bought at the first two stores . . . |

Hi Qie, I went home on my lunchbreak and bought a pose. I went to my inventory and clicked on it and it did not have a "wear" option. It just said Play locally, Play In World, Delete. When I click on either play in world or locally, a box pops up and then when I X out, she stops posing. I am confused. |
