So the other day this blue gremlin looking character sits on the Xstreet terminal accepting deposits like a gold rush cathouse. Except I didn't really realize that cuz I popped in and impatiently tried to pay the terminal before everything rezzed. Then after I hit pay I realized it just said "You paid resident so and so 1000L$" instead of the normal message. Then the blue dude rezzed. I should mention that I was half-awake and had denied myself any caffeine on this particular morning. Then I noticed a bunch of other angry peeps were milling about. Apparently even though people were accidentally paying him, he had the chutzpah to IM some of the ones who didn't and beg for money. Sad face. He didn't answer my IMs and deleted his account within a few minutes. So a thousand L's down the drain. Life goes on. I filed an AR and a support ticket but I kinda doubt I will get my money back.

So my question is: I've never filed a Jira before and I think there should be some kind of unsit script in all the Xstreet terminals. Does that sound like a reasonable request? And I can't even sort out if this would be considered a bug (since it "interferes with the product's function";) or a new feature request.

Also FYI, I started using the Xstreet remote deposit box, which is pretty cool. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=207296

Smif out.

I note that the xstreet remote deposit page says "NOTE: Remote Deposits may experience severe processing delays. If you experience a delay of more than 12 hours, please contact Support."

One might want to be aware of that before making a huge remote deposit or for a time critical deposit.

I guess this begs another question. Since Xstreet is now part of SL, why can't people just use their SL balances directly from Xstreet, or if that is too much to ask for, why not allow secure transfers from the SL account page?

I noticed that too... That's why I never used it before. But since I've used it, the deposits have been credited within 10 minutes so far.

this is why I always, always only pay 1L the first time (to a term.) to see if the thing works or pays or accepts correctly. Then I make my bigger payment or deposits or whatever.

It used to be you had to rez a box and cover the terminal with it to scam newbies. That is whay the warning to be sure you are paying SLXTerminal Bigwig before making the transaction.

I'm not sure if it still works this way but I think you can jsut pull up the profile for that resident and pay it directly. I know you could do that before the takeover so I think it will still work that way

This is the best idea. Just get rid of the terminals and allow us to transfer funds on our 'dashboard' pages.

This would be more noobie-friendly than searching for these cash terminals. The only use for some in-world device would be to confirm the account holder.

It has said that for a long time, but I have never had a deposit take more than a few minutes. That may have been put there because whenever SL has asshat server issues, then Xstreet stuff gets affected.

I am also anxiously awaiting when they finally get the money part tied together. Although, the trade value for buying L$ on Xstreet has consistently been 20-25 L$ better than via the LL site, so I imagine that I will lose that benefit of Xstreet when they finally merge the financial stuff.

Oh good gods. Are people still taking the time to go to a terminal? IT ISN'T NECESSARY!

Just get the remote deposit thingy from https://uncensored.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=207296

If you don't have a place you can rez a prim (you could wear it n' it'll work too), then just send the money to the AV; Exchange Street. He's owned by the creater of Xstreet and your deposit will show up as quickly as if you'd paid a terminal.

It does still work that way, and likely will until LL breaks, uh, I mean merges the SL linden balances with XLS.

Never use a terminal in a location with a lot of avatars around. There are hundreds across the grid. Go find one where nobody else is around.

As for the support ticket you should have filed an AR on the crook and then filed a transactions support ticket that listed the AR number for cross reference. I don't see why LL would not credit you back the stolen money.

Nah, don't bother with terminals at all, just pull up the profile of SLXTerminal Bigwig, or Exchange Street and pay 'em directly.

Noooo.

There is a avatar named Exchange Streeter with the identical profile as the real one that steals your money. Beware.

Yes, I'd heard of him, a friend once accidentally paid him something like 5000 L. It was returned when she asked for it back. I've also heard of him *not* returning accidental payments. I also thought he'd been banned? Is he still in the list?

Whatever... Get the Deposit Thingy from https://uncensored.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=207296 and stop worrying about it.

This is the plan but I'm assuming it's on hold as they're allowing Xstreet terminals to be placed again.

You can withdraw directly from the Xstreet page.

Apparently that name was banned. But there are several dozen Streeters, most with mid-2007 registration dates. (I suppose no one at LL had any idea at that time of ultimately buying the company that became XStreet. Or, we'll hope so, anyway, because if they knew, permitting the name "Streeter" was surely foolhardy.)

I notice there are about 30 people with the first name "Exchange"...all with larcenous intent?

And this is why I now use the remote deposit.. on my land.. with autoreturn and if someone is sitting on it, they're gonna get a ban/eject.. if I don't just take it back into my inventory and then ban/eject.

I always picked on terminal before the remote deposit system... it was in a nice friendly place and one could count on very few idiots interfering with it.

Yep, sometimes you just have to use common sense. It's unfortunate what happened to the OP, but I wouldn't have deposited any money til the machine was rezzed. Think of it like a RL ATM machine. Would you use it if someone was standing right there, and could see your account number? Of course you wouldn't! There are two SL ATMs I use at the moment, both in VERY quiet places. I won't say where, for obvious reasons. I have never lost lindens this way.

...be sure you are paying SLXTerminal Bigwig before making the transaction.

This reminds me of the thread where men were complaining about buying No Transfer women's clothes they intended to give away.

Before you make a deposit to a terminal, take two seconds to check whether it is being made to SLXTerminal Bigwig.

It's just that simple.

If you fall for this scam a second time, well... you know the rest.

That's unfortunate Smith but an old hand like you should know better. :(

It could have been worse. Luckily it was only L$1,000. When I used to play poker in SL, sometimes I forgot to take off a transparent orb shield I sometimes had on for RP and occasionally people would accidentally pay me L$10,000-L$40,000 when they tried to buy in at the table. The first time it happened I thought the guy just really really liked me. :D

Thanks all. As I said in my post, I did AR and file a support ticket, and I do use the Xstreet remote deposit now. I wouldn't pay someone's profile, though.

Over the last few months I had popped in to the main Xstreet terminal, paid it, and popped out within 30 seconds so many times that I started to do that on auto-pilot... add to that my impatience and caffeine withdrawal... and there you have it. Still this was very careless of me. Lesson learned.

There is an XSL ATM on my home sim that is *guaranteed* to be quiet. You have to know *exactly* where it is... and you'll need a flight feather. ;)

(There used to be a building around it in the form of a club, but when the club closed and was dismantled, our estate owner asked to have the ATM moved to ground level, and was refused. So, it just floats there.)
