Im partnered..to a fab guy...have been with him for almost a year in SL..
Long term relationships change over time as your interests widen....
How do you keep your partnership....fresh? What sorta stuff do you do...the same? new? Any places you go when youre both a little jaded with life/SL...that revitalise you?

Congrats! Nice to see some couples with staying power.
We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary in January. We are both busy people rl so time inworld is limited. It's a matter of finding new stuff to do and sharing. We love to go dancing and are getting more into live music. The other day we went ice skating at Noob Island. We went shopping for a couples walk and ended up playing basketball at Abranimations. Little fun stuff like that helps keep things going. He's finally learning how to build, so I help him there... there is a lot to share.

Something I've found is doing things alone, as well as together, keeps things a little more fresh - allows for each to find new things, and show them off to the other.
For something different, try random Stargate hopping, perhaps? (find a stargate, and try /d random - if it's one of the more common ones, it should dial a random Stargate for you...just click on the event horizon in the gate, and it will give you a TP destination)

Nothing is routine.

Do you mean you just type random things in 'Search' then teleport to the 1st place? Wouldn't it just usually be a shop? As for a suggestion to keep it fresh, some were talking about wearing a different shape/skin on another thread, and how being a different gender made them feel. Maybe you and your husband could switch genders? Create alt accounts on the same day. You could shop together for male/female stuff and give each other pointers. It would give you a whole different perspective on things. Might also be interesting later on in the evening...

Wouldn't it just usually be a shop? Oohhh...Stargates are kind of fun. Are you familiar with the movie Stargate? And the way the Stargate looks? You may have seen these in SL before, and probably thought they were static items. There is a stargate network, and most of these things are linked to that network. So, when you tell the stargate to dial a destination, it gets the SLURL info from the network. However, most stargates are made with a "random" setting...meaning, they pick a random stargate on the network, and get the SLURL for it. So, when you stand within chat range of a stargate, and ask it to dial random (the /d random command), you might end up in some places you never thought to look. (rarely are they shops, in my experience)

Genders? How about switching partners instead? From what I've seen it's a carousel as far as people switching up, back and forth in the dating game. Marriages and partnerships don't last. Few couples do as mentioned above but if you can do it, great. But just like I won't come to sl to work I also won't come here to stay cooped up. Besides, where's the fun in being hog tied? Different strokes, different folks.

Wow! That seems fantastic! I can't wait to log in later on and try this, (been kind of bored lately). I am familiar with the Stargate movies/series, just didn't know about it in SL. I think I know of one gate, at least it looked very 'stargatey', next to the Grendel's Children entrance but didn't know about the /d random command. Thank you for the tip, Joseph!

Isabeau, I didn't know about them either.
Thanks for the info on the Stargates, Joseph ... I've been wondering what those were for since I first started.

From: Ricardo Harris Genders? How about switching partners instead? That can be fun too. I had my alt logged in one day and he came along and picked her up. Another time, I made a pass at his alt. In both cases, it made for some very interesting role playing.

The best way to keep your relationship fresh is not to think of Second Life as a "pixel world". The last I heard we are are real people and not pixels.

Fai, TopCard and I do a lot together ...always trying something new. We ride horses and Jeeps down protected roads. I take him for rides in my helicopter and he takes me in his boat. We seadoo, explore...end up in some crazy places lol. Quiet times together are hiking through Botanical, just being at home landscaping or building beside each other.
