It's called "redundancy"... For one connectivity provider to go down like this and cause gridwide meltdown, it's clear that proper redundancy is not in place (or not configured correctly)... The monthly tier fees I (and a lot of SL residents) pay is far greater than most of the global business who have websites - and they get proper redundancy. Yes, it's fun (and for many a business) but if they charge the amounts they do, the backup service should be there. Gomez

From: Kitty Barnett It wouldn't make any difference in this case if the quoted reason is accurate. LL isn't responsible if one of their upstream providers dies on them so it probably wouldn't count as downtime under most SLAs (of the ones I know anyway, which isn't that many  ), nor can they really be blamed for it either. And how would any of us know if it wasn't the service provider failing? |
