so I was wondering about some points

a) will the data be directly transmitted to that other company or will LL get ahold of it too?
b) I live in Germany and I was wondering what difference between "Personalausweis" (ID card) and "Ausweisnummer" (ID number) would be. Since the only logical way for "Personalausweis" to be verified seems to be its number i'm a bit confused
c) is there a way to use a credit-card or something for age verification?

Credit card yes, payment info on file apparently verifies you.

Has the payment info thing now been enabled for the old parcel-level system they added last year, or does that one still require the separate verification step?

if i remember correctly they will ask for socialsecurity or passport number ?

Nothing new has been enabled, no. The need to scrap how they flagged parcels and sims before and use a new "Adult Content Approval required" flag.

At least, I PRAY they don't just say the way to "Flag as adult" is just "Check both the "Age verify required" and "Payment info required" boxes, because that does NOT work!

I age verified a while back, and it worked flawlessly in a fraction of a second. I don't really know how they did this, a credit card transaction takes longer. But it worked and it did no harm . That's in Asia, far away from anything "US".

How do we know if people we meet in SL are verified as over 18?
In fact can we tell if we ourselves are?
If we arn't, but I think I am, how we test?
Do people who are not verified get excluded in Adult areas?

Just remember in these debates around age verification that the more liberally we spread personal ID info around the internet, the more can be collected and used in dubious ways we may know nothing about.

At the moment, the ONLY way a Resident can tell if another Resident is Age Verified via Aristotle is to set up a parcel on the ground as "age verification required", and insist that they walk into that space within 50 M of the ground. And if you can see them do that then MAYBE they are age verified, (likely) or MAYBE the system just glitched and let them in anyway (Proven to be possible) or MAYBE they are using some sort of animation override that displaces them from their actual position, so they *appear* to be there, but are actually one sim East of that location (There are combat attachments that do this).

I'm sorry, but an age verification ID that the bouncer at the door of the bar is not permitted to look at is worthless...

And if they cannot get into that parcel, maybe they have not age verified and maybe they have successfullly age verified. I am verified, as are a couple of my alts - one of us get get into some adult parcels and not others, one of us can into all adult flagged parcels, and the other one cannot get to any adult parcel.

I know of at least one avatar that is age-verified using data found in a standard schoolbook used for teaching a foreign language. The coursebook in question has an image of an ID card with (what I sincerely hope is) dummy data. That dummy data is known to pass the Aristotle verification tests.

All you need these days is PIOF. No need to worry about social security numbers, driving licence, passport yadda yadda yadda.

I'm in Asia too but the system don't work for me. The postal code only has 5 digit, I need 6. Anyway, I did not send my RL info to LL as I don't feel comfortable letting them keep hardcopy of my identity.

Besides, this current age verification system is beta. Who knows u might need to verify again when they introduce a new age verification system.

the current system is still broken for me, I tried both my soial seurety number (burger service nummer in dutch) and my passport number but nothing works, offcourse if any company has that data without my permision they are breaking the dutch privatie laws and might find themselfs in trouble with the european court in brusles.

How is Payment Info on File supposed to help? I've had payment info on file for years and I'm still not adult verified as demonstrated by the fact that I am not allowed on a neighbor's parcel because they have set it to Adult Verified only. (I have no idea why, it's practically a vacant lot.) I tried to verify with the last 4 digits of my SSN but it failed...which is quite odd as all the information they asked for was correct and has been so for over 2 decades.

Talon many people have reported that the adult flag does not work, even for people who are age verified. I'd imagine LL know this otherwise that would have been their first port of call regarding the new policy.

I was aware of issues with age verification inworld, but I thought if one were age verified it would show up on your account summary page? No such indicator is on mine hence the confusion.

Ah with you, LL are saying that PIOF will in the future in combination with the adult continent mean you're verified but they haven't yet sorted that part out. I don't know if they'll actually mark your account as age verified in that fashion, they haven't mentioned that part.

My wife is Dutch and had no problems verifying with her passport number. and as you gave the information no Dutch laws have been broken In fact please point me to the reference that says it is against the law as i'm dammed if i can find it
