A friend is looking for quality evening gowns.

Could I have a few suggestions as to where she should look? Any favourite places anyone?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Oh good. I wanted some more places to look. And I second Last Call. One of those places where the outfit actually looks better out of the box and on you :) That or I've lost the ability to judge 2d pictures in a 3d world.

That reminds me - I've seen 3d models wearing clothes (I mean inanimate objects, not avatars (the ones that have avatars somewhat freak me out - is that just a bot and I can look? or will I get close and the person will start talking and I'll have to think of something to say?), and it really helps to see what the outfit looks like. I realize it takes a lot of prims and space, but I wish more people would use those thingies, at lease some select number of outfits.

The ones I've seen have been campers... makes wandering around BDSM and female skin stores a sight more interesting.... strictly in the interests of scientific research, you understand ... *cough* *cough*

Were the campers at least wearing what was for sale? And displayed in a manner you could examine the item(s) in question?

I was referring to the stuffed dolls (which I didn't say before because I can't recall how to spell the word) wearing the clothing :)

Yes, that is the word I wanted. I have lots and lots of words in my head. I know them. I know what they mean. But I can't spell them :(

Also, Adam & Eve has nice formal wear. They have pose stands around the floor, and offer $1L demos.

I love their 'Rose' gown. (on everyone except me ::sigh::)

edit: I have a bigger problem finding shoes!

Nicky Ree (tends to big ball-gown type skirts), Blaze (tends to more body-hugging styles), DG Innovations. Also look at Ribbons and Roses (smaller selection, but great customer service) and Indyra Originals. I love Pixel Dolls, but don't recall much formal wear there.

My most recent formalwear purchases were at Blaze and DG, and I absolutely love them. And yes, Blaze is one of the few places I've seen that actually has live salesgirls who come up to you and want to help. Wonderful!

Your absolutely right, but in this case, remove the free flowing skirt and you got a beautiful body-hugging gown!

That a look at the link!

Black Moon has great gowns, if you are looking for a very feminine, flexi, and often lacy look. There are regular gowns, plus many with a more of a costume flavor - Victorian, Goth, National-themed. First and third floors. Prices very reasonable, mod/trans.

I love both styles...just depends on my mood. I didn't mean to imply a preference...
And, Nika, yes, how could I have forgotten Black Moon? A lovely store, live help, and I spent an hour there last weekend drooling and running my camera over three floors packed with displays.

Whispers by Zelinna (Zelinna Jaques) Bought my first formal in SL from her and still wear it to this day. Beautiful things, and she has just come out with a new line.

Simone is a genius with ballgowns etc. If you haven't checked out her store, I highly recommend it.
