Oh yeah, don't forget that when you are in Jessie you also may kill anyone that you encounter. AR's do not apply.

I went to Jessie to see some action, but there was no action, so I made some kind of thing that shot out big peace symbols and chatted insults to anyone around, but in an hour or so taunting couldn't get anyone to shoot me.

A new user once asked to go to Jessie so they could get killed and I took her. We couldn't find any action of any kind. Eventually I went to one of the very few green dots there and asked the guy if he would please shoot us He was very reluctant but eventually agreed. When the new user arrived the Jessieite killed us.

You have to realize that this was a very different (and closer to real) time in SL. It was a smaller community, the Lindens were ever present, and land was hard to come by. Turned out that land was worth fighting for.

Not exactly. Land was easy to come by back then. In those days, the SL population was very small, and landbots had not been invented yet. We also had public land, which was simply unclaimed land. If you wanted land, you flew around until you found an unclaimed spot. All you had to do was just select a plot and claim it. Land was $L1 per meter. We all got stipends back then, which usually brought your cash balance up to 3500 Linden every payday. There were land taxes, but overall land was easy to find. I still have my newbie plot from beta after 5 years. Being in an old sim, its actually prime real estate.
