Deving: Getting Started with a few questions

Hey Second Life.

Listen guys, I just got my first paypal account (yay xD) and getting ready to buy me some linden$. Now I wanna get into deving, just clothing for now and I have a few questions. Okay so I know how to upload the texture into SL, for my own avi to wear the shirt, but I would like to know, how do I put the shirt, or any other clothing, up for sale in my own little shop for other avatars to buy?

Also, do we get a commission every time something of ours is sold, like IMVU? And how are jackets, sunglasses, etc made? And do t-shirts and pants and accessories use Opacity/UV Maps to come in different styles?

On the texturing tips forum there are some great stickied threads about clothes making and the how to.

You can set up a shop on any piece of land you buy or rent.... or find shops for rent in malls. You set your own prices. You will have to learn how to display your items and set them for sale.. and all about permissions.

There is a great thread running here in Resident answers on business. Just use the search forums feature and look for a thread called Advice on Sales.

To answer everything would take a very long time and is better left for people who know more about each step. You really will get better answers in the specific forums.

When selling something, it is usually as simple as putting everything for sale in a box and set that box for sale in its item properties. When someone buys it, you get all the money.

when you sell something, you get the full price you set it for sale at.... unless any of the following apply...

you are selling it on xstreet, LL will take a portion as their commission
you have a script that will split the sale between you and someone else (also some free vendors will have this script automatically set)
you have the item deeded to a group, the lindens from the sale go to the group, which then will be split between whomever is in the group with accounting option checked in their role in the group
