So my plan to be an SL vagabond has been thrwarted thanks to a certian Vampire we all know and love. *shakes fist.

Gabriele has graciously offered me a lovely plot at her place, it is waterfront and has an adorable stone cottage on it ready to go, and the beach is just the right size for a landing pad. She threatened to bite me if I didn't accept.

So here I am at the door of my new home.

:D if you need some practical furniture to match the atmosphere, go peek at the stuff i have at the store and i'll gift any you want. (i make log furniture)

I will take a look. Thanks Some of what i was about to give away might work, but if you have any outdoor stuff, I can see a nice little picnic table out front.

i have some wrought iron bistro sets, and can put ANY texture you want on them.

or i can make a log based one. easy. you just need to let me know if you want parts or whole sets or whatever. i haven't made anything new in awhile, so maybe you'll inspire me to get back to building by requesting a style/texture/color/design. (just PMme here, or IM Wren inworld)

Never heard of him. But I'll take my life over his. I don't care how you spin it, unless there is some reason you have to be a shut in, medical or otherwise, spending that much time in ront of a computer doing anything is not a good thing, in my opinion. especially for a kid.

Pierce Brock was the child star in the movie First Kid. Collecting and selling items from MMOG's is a $2,000,000,000 a year industry. That's right, no typo, that's billion. Pierce made his 60+ million as the first running a multi computer setup(only 6 computers). If the WOW guy with 36 computers and nearly level 80 isn't making $5K a day then he is a dummie. "good" is subjective, I wish I wasn't good in that way and spending 12+ hours a day in front of a computer and making that much money as opposed to being good(which I am) and stuck in front of the computer for the same amount of time and making much less.

Oooh! Amara where was that?

Gosh Jerboa- trying to get the name off the top of my head, but i do have LM, it is near the College of Scripting, Music and Science and the name is similar to Encogen.. i will look for it tonight. Steely will know, if I speak to him sooner I will ask him to post a slurl here.

i wouldn't want to spend 12+ hours a day in front of a computer for any amount of money, unless it was short term and the 2 bil was assured. wut the hell kind of life is that? ugh.

Thanks! The jeans are from Zaara, the boots are the freebie boots they give you at Weather Channel Island, the Onyxia sunglasses were a group gift from Artilleri, and the black mink jacket is from French Spirit. :) And..I've got some black turtleneck on underneath, but I cannot recall where I found it...but it was a freebie, somewhere...

Well for me it is the kind of life that pays the bills. 8-10 hours per day administering network, purchasing and shipping with some ACAD design thrown in, all on a computer. Then you add a couple of more hours per night in the forums answering scripting questions, coding myself or just browsing. Actually I just described a considerable amount of the work force in the US. How many are tied to their computers at work? Then you get into software development where 16 hr days are a norm, not the exception. Is it healthy or "good", probably not, but it is a heck of a lot healthier then so many jobs. Ever watch the Alaskan crab fishing show or dirty jobs? And it is definitely better then spending 12 hours a day working as a dishwasher in a restaurant.

And I do it for a lot less than that amount of money -- anywhere from 9-10 hrs a day for the job and then another few hours in SL and forums at night.

The damn job just needs to pay me more.

QFT!

Although I am thankful to even have a job right now at any pay. I would not doubt if we reach 10% unemployment rate in US before spring. It will get better but not before getting worse.

Perhaps, but it is not a life I would want. We all have to choose our paths, but I would truthfully choose to be the fisherman over the computer person every time. I'm not denigrating the professio, they make it possible for things like SL , but it is just not something I would want to do. I will be re entering the job market sometime in the coming months, as crappy as it is, and it will in part be predicated on not wanting a job that will attach me to the electronic leash as a major component. I don't mind having to use a computer for for work, but I don't want to work at a computer.
