I have found images and traced them, that how I started learning how to draw
my own wood and flower textures.
I have done some educational tracing and color matching to understand how
things are made but some may say even that is no no but it helps
me understand how things are made.
And it's not like lot of my work has ever sold anywhere or rarely but
it's not why I make things, I make things because its something I enjoy.
I even reproduced Cezanne's fruit bowl in 2003, maybe I sold or gave
ten images away, recently I even saw the image on someone else's website
without my name on it.
It was on the web someone someone snatched and modified it but I have
no way to prove it because image records died with the computer I had at the
time.
It taught me lot about shading and color when I reproduce old Master painting
but I haven't gotten to point I can reproduce the elaborate fabrics or images
of people in Old Master paintings.
I found a freebie art program that allows you to doodle on your own blog
and I did figure out how to draw this image of a woman last year.
It was fun to do. I would show it but I can't find it and I can't remember the
name of it

Amarathim its cool application what it is good for is for making specific
shapes and gradients.
The problem I have with it is there a whole lot of features or even how to save
it as png or tga I can't figure out or I forgot how.
It tends to want to save in XML type files.
It is free too.
What I tend to do is when I want to create specific shape outline or
gradient typed panels is I use Inkscape.
It has also calligraphy type pen that you can do certain lines.
Also what is cool about the lines is you can move and change their
position or shape as you make them.
I am not good with producing specific shapes or lines by hand so
its way to produce lines easier with gradients.
Because I don't know how to do certain files in it I often
draw whatever I want and prnt scrn image then paste and
edit within Photoshop.

I used Inkscape to do arches and perspective outlines

Oh the mini-blinds and window outlines were done in Inkscape too in
my signature, but finished touches and colorization, panels was done
in Photoshop.

I probably shouldn't say this but all I could think or hope you don't lick your feet or any other part to clean after that just gross. LOL

I haven't sent it. I figure it wasn't good enough and she didn't want it.
I still got this problem with erasure marks.
The outfit was made with using different textured layers some with
superbladepro the uploading to avpainter, and erasing specific layers
to expose certain layers to show, then fine tuning specific other areas
in Photoshop.
Some of features in Inkscape might do great fabric designs or embroidery, laces, and numerous other things that require shapes and complex gradients colors with certain amount of tweaking added with other art programs and Avpainter too that could be done
to do clothing or even faces details.

I gotta go with FD on this one. Inkscape is EXCELLENT!

Best free alternative to Illustrator.

I've been using Inkscape for some time now. It was very useful when producing a layout for a nearby small town restaurant's menus.

Inkscape has weird file features like Gimp that really, really confused me
but I use it in ways I find most comfortable with.
I don't really have brain rezzing powers to really get how to use lot of
features without total brain freeze.
I think I am either go play with prims, doodle or maybe I go back to bed.
