Night of the Living Teenagers

So what happened to the "teenage scare" of 2009? They didnt show up and we spent (well, YOU spent!) days arguing over these Midwich Cuckoos ad infinitum.

Well, are they still a threat? Or, like the Living Dead do they simply stagger along and we nimbly avoid them?

But more to the point, what further "urban myths" are we gonna generate in the months to come? What are the hot topics?

Zindra? Well, it's cozy enough that I'm moving there. Sayuri - you remember her, my PA - is looking out for some land for me. Is Voice gonna be an issue? Or disclosure? Or ... you decide. Maybe we can give birth to a new rumour here. Be careful, though - I might just start to believe you.

The Teen Invasion rumor should be quiet for awhile. Last week we had it imminent, it was said the teen grid was closed and the merge was coming. However M has reportedly said while it is still in furure considerations, it won't happen soon.

By "wider Second Life Community" I am guessing he is referring to the same "Millions of unheard voices" who wanted the creation of Pornsylvania. In any event, we've dodged that bullet, at least for the time being.

My prediction is LL and Facebook will officially join, and RL Facebook profiles will be available on our profiles as an "option". Of course LL will screw this up and "accidently" make everyone's RL info accessable on the profiles, whether we want it or not.

Which would cause complete and utter turmoil and chaos - which, in a spiralling destructive domino effect, will end the internet and web as we know it. This will cause further turmoil on teh markets and teh economies of teh world leading to human civilizations being wiped off the map in an Armageddon of Armageddonistic proportions.

I hadn't heard that the teen grid was closed. My kid hasn't been on TSL for about two weeks. Just a rumor or did I miss something?

Evidently, just a rumor. I started that thread because I heard in-world that it had been closed. I haven't seen a single shred of evidence to back this up though, so I'm not sure what prompted that discussion in-world in the first place.

Before the changes to SL and verification I had found far to many teens in SL since the change none

I use the Emerald Viewer, and my son uses the default SL viewer. I decided to see if there was any truth to the teen rumor and tried to log on for a few minutes to the teen grid, but I got an error message that I had to update the SL default viewer first. I downloaded the viewer but it failed. I'll try downloading it again tomorrow. Maybe there is a buggy glitch with the new SL viewer?

I've got kids on the teen grid.

If anything, they fear *us* interfering with them.

Imagine their utter embarrassment, seeing otherwise respectable adults flirting badly, spewing drunk~dial levels of drama into public chat and crawling around naked at the end of someone's leash. They. do. not. want. to. see. this!

And no, they aren't going to find us all cool and interesting. Just about any normal teen will be grossed out by any of the above, and flee about as rapidly as they would flee a hotel bar full of lonely cougars and weird Uncle Ernies.

Would be a picture hard put to remove from those tender psyches......something to carry into the psychiatrist's couch, 20 years later. "Well, Doctor, a long time ago, I saw my dad in a thong on his knees licking a womans feet in Second Life.....I never got over it, and now..............oh my, imagine the trauma.

Oh, I've been 18 for 27 years now. Starting to look more and more like my dour Scot grandfather by the day, but still a twinkle in the eye.

No leashes. But yes, knackered as they come; not a shred of hope left for me. The ties that bind Des are quite invisible, and perhaps inscrutable to most, but quite unbreakable. Only the careful observer would understand.

knackered is to be exhausted. Often in a frustrating way.
I use it in real. For example, an older friend said to me the other day,
"Jig, you looked wiped out"
"Tash, I'm knackered. I'm gonna have Mushu Gushu for supper and watch "House""
(I dont know what Musu Gushu is but it sounds Chinese takeawayish

ummm 18+ 27 = 45? Long ways from 70........(he said he's been 18 for 27years now.)

This is what I try to tell adults who don't have kids about teens when they get worried about grid cross pollination.
