The governing body providing barriers to new businesses and protections to established businesses is anti-competitive and the antithesis of capitalism. Artificial barriers to new entrants prevent the better mousetrap from being produced and selling. No one can buy the better mousetrap if no one hears about it. No I think it is exactly what capitalism has become. If your one of the big guys on the block you can buy/bribe/corrupt your way to even bigger profits and at the cost of everyone else. The other problem with the "Linden approved" stamp is that Linden Lab is probably going to try to avoid liability for endorsing bad products. Linden Lab is actively trying to cut into the share of the revenues (by tightly controlling advertising mechanisms and the marketplace itself) while shoving all the costs off to the residents (have a problem with that Linden-endorsed product? Sorry that's a "resident dispute" in which Linden Lab does not get involved.). Exactly imho... again LL is the biggest player on this block so they can do what they want to whom they want. Why wouldn't the rich help the rich get richer? Just because its a virtual world doesn't mean it isn't run my RL exec's who are in the upper echelons of scarcities wage earners. Why would they care about the little guy? |

Now, just imagine the LL link to the skin maker is very effective, every noob around is wearing skins from that creator. Now, also consider this: do you really want to buy from a skin store that every noob in the world is wearing? Short term bonanza, long term destruction of a brand name potentially. I wouldnt touch a skin store like that with a ten foot pole
