They need an outsider. It's easier for them to fire people that way.

This is a silly thread. A silly thread.
What is needed is someone with sound business leadership. Liaison or not. However, and this is no disrespect AT ALL towards anyone, that seems very unlikely to be the case somehow. ***edit That it would be a Linden I mean. _____________________

There are no silly threads, only silly people reading and writing threads.

I love Jeska but it shouldn't be her or any other Linden. I agree with Bree. It must be an outsider who can come in with a new perspective and is willing to make the changes that need to be changed - including the chopping heads that need to be chopped.

It will be someone from outside of the current staffers and Linden crop.
Rumour has it that a few of the leading folks in blizzard are due to leave at the end of March due to the restructure since Activision took over blizzard not too long ago, of course, rumours are rumours but since i used to work for Activision (and a few smaller gaming companies) i still have my ties ![]() Linden Labs, and more especially Second Life and all of its "grids" needs someone from outside, they need someone with no ties to ANYONE inside the company. This new CEO will act as 2 people at the same time, the God Father and The Grim Reaper. I will hedge a bet, i bet that by the end of this year a few more "lindens" will "leave their position"...not sacked...just removed from various positions of "power" and sent back to do what they do best, imagining. All companies in the gaming world go through this, blizzard, eidos, activision, iD, EA...they all went through this restructuring once they went into critical mass. Looks like i joined SL at juuuuuuust the right time ![]() |

Looks like i joined SL at juuuuuuust the right time ![]() Except Linden Lab is not a gaming company. If you ever get a check from LL, it says "Linden Lab Research" (note the word "research" . And in Phillips own words from the Reuters article:“We’re looking for someone who has experience with and a passion for growing this type of company — a software platform company — from 250 people to thousands of people, which is where we think it’s going,” I do not think they will be bringing in a "gamer executive' per se as that would be the wrong direction SL is going in. We are not expanding as a game, but as a virtual world platofrm. But I suppose we will see. _____________________

Yeah well if you changed Blizzards name to "Blizzard Lab Research" it wouldn't be a gaming company anymore overnight would it? ![]() It's not so much about the game but the online world industry and managemebnt that understand how online worlds work and how customers are gained and kept. If a gaming exec got in maybe they'd fix a few things so SL did appeal to more gamers, like vehicles and improve animations, physics & graphics and customer service too. More gamers in here means more people to make stuff for and gamers have money too and spend it, unlike a lot of the population here that expect to cash out. _____________________

But I suppose we will see.. Well they might looking at all possibities. But after all the issues involved anyone with common sence in the VR worlds might not touch the position. |

Vivendi Games (including Blizzard) and Activision merged, with Vivendi controlling 52%.-68% Essentially, when all is said and done, WOW bought Guitar Hero. There may be some changes in top management in the process, but clearly Blizzard, especially with it's current games and expansions, in development, will reign supreme for a long, long time to come. Who will end up as Activision-Blizzard CEO and who will leave if any may not be finalized although it had been said that Activision CEO Robert Kotick would be in place with Rene Penisson from Blizzard as Chairman and that seems to be the way it is going. |

My vote would be for Pony Linden, if Pony ever decides to appear in public ever again.
