My primary account (Carl Metropolitan) has been unable to post to the forums for nearly a week now. Every time I try to post or reply, I get the following error:
Not Found The requested URL /newreply.php was not found on this server. Apache/2.2 Server at forums.secondlife.com Port 80
The other thing I noticed is that when I try to post as Carl Metropolitan, the background of the "Reply to Thread" window is white and the border of that window is tan. However, when I post as an alt, the border of the "Reply to Thread" window is light blue and the window itself is a slightly darker light blue.
I can't imagine any reason that my Carl Metropolitan account could have been banned. I've certainly received no communications from LL to that effect, and I have no problem logging on to SL as Carl Metropolitan.
I'm able to post as NCI Golem or Carl Henderson (I was lucky enough to snag my RL name as a SL account). I've tried posting the identical messages under Carl Metropolitan and NCI Golem, and the message went through as NCI Golem, but not as Carl Metropolitan. So the common forum error of accidentally using keywords that scare the database isn't the cause here.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

It's a bug I think Carl.
Go back to the basic editor with the forums User CP and see if that does it?

I ran into that when one of my posts appeared to look like an SQL messge and got blocked by the submit script. Other than that, I'd suggest a ticket to see if you been admin'd out of access. I severely doubt it. You'd have been contacted if that were true. (O.o)

Have you tried completely deleting your browser's cache of cookies, pages, etc? (I think that's "Clear Private Data" in FireFox?) .

I get that whenever I do a < followed immediately by a 3.
Maybe something in Carl M's signature??
edit: /me checks Carls old posts and sees nothing funky in the .sig..

Carl, I made a similar thread about two weeks ago. The cause is something some Linden did to the Forums, and the cure is to change your settings (User CP --> Edit Options --> Miscellaneous Options) to either Basic or Standard. For some reason the Enhanced option keeps us from posting. Edit: Oops, I see Desmond already posted this solution.

Happens if you try posting anything that even remotely resembles SQL code. I assume they have a ridiculously sensitive block against SQL injection attacks.

But notice he reported that he isn't getting the Forbidden message, but rather the Not Found message, which indicates that it's the 'no Enhanced' bug rather than some particular words or characters that he'd typed.

Also happens sometimes if you put html tags into your post, even fake ones. Instead of fixing the forum software, they have modified their front end to reject anything that remotely looks like an attack; SQL keywords, HTML tags, etc. Their method of "rejection" is 503 errors and "page not found" errors. Makes perfect sense to me...

From: Ponsonby Low But notice he reported that he isn't getting the Forbidden message, but rather the Not Found message, which indicates that it's the 'no Enhanced' bug rather than some particular words or characters that he'd typed. just making people aware of all the known ways it can go wrong (and why I suggested checking the linked articles)... the method of prevention being used by LL in this case is both ridiculous, and unnecessary... there are much easier solutions that are entirely transparent to the users, found freely on the web... script kiddies in grade school could do better.

It's not banned if you can see it. One of mine is banned from resident answers and it doesn't even show up if that ones logged in.

From: Meade Paravane I thought those came back with permission denied or something similar, instead of page not found.. When I was trying to post my Google App Engine DNS service in the scripting forums, it kept saying not found. finally realized it was because of the SQL stuff.

Actually it gets even better.............. You get the Forbidden message for SQL keywords. You can get Not Found for using the Enhanced wysiwig editor. AND for not having a space after an opening bracket. < 0,0,0> you get "Oops! This link appears to be broken." So much fun I pinged Blue about it and he didn't really care.

To improve the quality of postings to this forum I have raised a jira ( https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-010409? ) which will reject posts that have basic English grammatical and spelling errors in a similar fashion to the mechanisms mentioned in this thread. Please go there and vote now for this basic comprehensibility enhancement! Pep (I believe that LL may even be testing my suggestions out already, so if you find difficulty posting then run your post through a grammar/spell checker first.)
