I have heard this rumor for years and years now, since i started playing. I am not sure if it is true or not, is Liden Labs being sold off? I heard it was, and it was going to turn to a "Pay to Play" but then i started thinking, if they did that wouldn't they
A) Get in trouble B) Lose alot of people C) Lose alot of money?
I am not sure what to think on this. u.u; i hope it isn't sold i have been playing it since day 1 T.T and i like the system.

Sounds like just an unfounded rumour to me, of which there are many. The Company is always either: - about to be sold - about to buy somebody - about to IPO - about to not IPO - about to be closed down by the Feds - secretly in league with the Feds - about to be shut down by the US Govt - about to shut down the US Govt and take over (eerie space music plays!) Ah, and in spite of relentlessly growing by X hundred regions a month it's always upon the "Precipice of Dewm!" due to this, that, or another thing. Of course with a US corporation almost anybody could buy almost anybody... happens all the time. For one beeeellion dollars? Sure maybe they would. Who's got that much and wants to buy SL? Prolly nobody. People in that league make their own sandboxes and invite their closest million friends to play. But US noncompete laws are so weak, we'd see Rosedale-land in six months even if a buyout ever came to pass. Just a guess, but I'd put a buyout in the 'unfounded rumour' category. Unless my 150 USD offer including a case of Guinness and a two week surfing excursion to Baja in my 1993 4WD was accepted...

Hi Isabella, welcome to the forums! Nah. They're going public in 17 months or a year after they get a new CEO, whichever is later. And that opinion, my dear, is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I heard a rumour that people could steal your soul with a script and sell it on eBay.

The Lindens really shouldn't have put in llDetectedSoul though. I mean, that was just _asking_ for trouble.

From: Ordinal Malaprop I heard a rumour that people could steal your soul with a script and sell it on eBay. Worse than that, the souls there have just been suddenly discounted by 675 USD. Had something to do with newer, cheaper, more compact models being produced in great number. Impossible to hold any kind of value on a soul any more... terrible investments. grin

From: Ordinal Malaprop I heard a rumour that people could steal your soul with a script and sell it on eBay. Only if you let someone take your picture.. but you might need a special camera with just the right script. .d

Every night I'll host a high stakes slingo game among my clones. The loser has to go to bed early and go to work the next day. The rest of us will conspire to take over the Metaverse.

LOL, no one's going to buy SL so long as they're publishing warnings like this every day: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/14/temporary-interruption-of-services/

Sigh, at the moment I can't get the blog announcement about interruption of services to load.
There's something catch-22ish about that, or ironic, or something like that.
