What do you mean by a 'real programming language' for manipulating prims?

I mean that I want to write a program in, say, Python, that would work with terms like 'make a cube here', and then set it to work solving problems like 'fill the space of X by Y by Z with a minimum possible amount of prims and calculate texture offsets'...

Well, I tried. Three times I tried, but to no avail.

I'm running Vista, and each time I tried to extract all files from the zip, Windows Explorer stopped working during the process, and closed down. I downloaded the current version again but to no avail. I simply can't extract all the files. I wonder if WinZip will manage it.

Extracted just fine for me on XP Pro so hopefuly WinZip will get it for you.

That worked. I used my XP machine to unzip it, and a flash drive to move it to the Vista machine.

If I remember right, XP had problems with zips too, and I managed to turn its auto-zip handling off. I'll have to find out how to turn it off with Vista.

Let me know if you have any problems at all.
If that applies to everyone, I posted a comment under tutorial 4 on your blog. I've tried everything to login into the sim on my Vista machine, but haven't managed it yet. I didn't have any problems on my XP machine some months ago (when you had to run several servers, one after the other), but I can't manage it now. Is it really down to one dos-like server now?

Well....

With a great deal of patience, and a lot of time, Rock managed to get me up and running.

Vista users need to know that the OpenSim server needs be run as an administrator.

Router users may need to get the IP address that the router has assigned to the computer. In my case it was very different to the usual 127.0.0.1

Thanks Rock - your instructions are nice and clear. My problem seems to be with the Launch files not opening properly, with lots of errors listed. I've had the same trouble with newer versions of the OpenLife standalones too, although the older one I've had for several months has always launched and logged in perfectly!
