/me wonders if there are instructors out there saying to all their students "here, make a survey about Second Life and go ask the people on the SL Forums to fill it out! It's an easy way to your grades!"

We get alot of requests for surveys in the forum and ppl are more likely to fill them in if you don't ask anonamously - if it's for genuine research then there's no reason why you shouldn't put who you are and what university teh research is for...

Or am I just being an old stick in the mud?

I wonder if it is possible to have a survey forum. That way anyone who wishes to fill out two to three surveys a week can have at it.

They'd still post here.

The amazing thing is you can earn up to $5000 a week just by filling in online surveys!!

Not that I need it since I gave my bank details to that unfortunate man in africa who needed a hand transferring all that money out

If you need to identify it.......are you sure it even exists?
Everyone in SL, on the adult grid and in these forums, is supposed to be over 18. If someone attempted to bully them, I would hope they would have enough sense to use mute against the offender.

If not, it is sad commentary on the state of the world.

Wow, I knew that eventually this had to work out well for someone. After all, there *must* be someone who needs lots of money transferred and is willing to let a stranger do it out of the goodness of their hearts, not to mention millions of dollars for a moment's effort.

Please let me know if you'd like help managing all that money, Amy! I know some great ways to spend it. I'll help you with your excess libido too, because that's just the kind of guy I am!

Haven't we had a similar discussion earlier this week? Something about sexual harassment?

Read that thread and you'll have your survey done. The answers there are pretty much the same and it's just as full of zany forum antics as this one will soon be.

Sassy reads the post with a twinkle in her eye...she opens the creaky wardrobe door and scans for an outfit to wear...she picks it off the rack.

Sassy applies a little talcum powder to aid her slipping her young tight form into the tight latex. She applies a little "ultra shine" to the outside, loads up her inventory with some of the usual Weapons of Mass Corruption and calls out...

"Neeeewwwbiiiiieeee...come an take a tour with Sassyyyyy!!!"

She waits patiently for a response...

Oh c'mon people.

Perhaps it's not the most analytic survey ever made, but it took me less than 30 seconds. Maybe 20.

Surveys are just kind of part of the ecology around here. We all know this.

Maybe it's a sham, but it's not like I'm giving them my account number or anything.

I'd do three or four bogus ones if it meant that the next one would really help a struggling student out.

Thanks to you, he's now safely in London and going to give ME $850k USD, because of some past help I gave him. So, you must be that new partner he's talking about.

(Seriously, I just got this bit of junk! Amazing.)

Struggling student??

Why not base it on empirical evidence instead of annecdotal? Student can create multiple av's go and tour, experiment as male/female/furry etc, attractive, ugly, tall, short, physically able, disabled, dressed extrovertly, conservatively...the list is endless.

Though I wouldn't expect to see results any different than if you asked people and just removed the word "Second" and called it "life"

I have done most of the above myself as no doubt have others, I know how people treat me skimpy dressed, dressed in a burqa, a wheelchair, swimming costume, naked, as a cat..

How hard is it to perform proper experiments these days?

Might take a while, is what I'm thinking.

You show up in your latest avatar, teleport in - the region is dead, maybe there are two people privately talking... they say hi... and then sorta ignore you... That's painfully common.

Though I suppose one could run around playing someone easily victimised for 100 hours and see if anyone bites.

Sounds like a lot of work. I think a survey is reasonable.

For what it's worth, after having taken this one it sure gives the impression that it was done by a real student. Not a professional or someone who has a lot of experience with these things.
