avatar island has an orientation area (as it is a gateway sim) and I went through it and wow, I wish I had that when I started SL
very simple to follow, covers just about everything a new resident needs to know

When I was first "born" here Orientation/Help islands reminded me of Fort Lauderdale at Spring Break. I learned absolutely nothing but had a lot of fun doing it!

It is not that you can't learn without the Tutorials, but they can be very helpful, and once someone gets on SL for a while one really understands how they would be useful

I went to Orientation Station and avatar island and did not see a lot of tutorials.
Avatar Island had an interesting way to get your photo as your sim's face, but I tried a trial that took me to a web page, and it never finished after I uploaded a picture, and I did not notice any tutorials. There was an area connected with tubes which may have been the tutorial are, but I could not fin an entrance, and you cant go in the side of the tube
Orientation Station transported me into a very strange area which seemed to be underground. I could fly out to an area with a bunch of free things, but the only tutorials I found were related to building things

Created a Alt last month and I noticed there is special hud that suppose to explain different features.
The search feature was bit helpful wish it was there when I was much newer but I may still have had issues because of communication tab blocking the teleport buttons.
