I use both slexchange and Onrez, I have no problems with either of them, and they make your products available to everyone. It is a lot easier to be found there than inworld.. and I do inclued a SURL to my shop in each description of my products. It was even easy to update all of my products and even change the names of them.

As for the comission, if you sell vendors to people inworld they will want a much higher comission.

I don't sell, but as a buyer, I prefer to shop on SLX because I hate the in-world rezz-lag, and because it's much easier for me to search and find specific items.

My primary motivation to go to an in-world shop would be to try a demo of something (animations, hair, gadgets).

What she made was a Spiderman a Superman and a Batman and they were pulled for Trademark infringement and she said she didn't get the warning and when she was listing other items she noticed they were back in her cart to be listed so she listed them again. There are tons of those things on there. Plus she sent me the emails and I saw her reply.

my husband was doing comic hero costumes and selling them in SL, not on slex, and got an email from LL to remove them due to infringement, yet we see the same costumes, same design, same names, as the ones he was doing, still being sold in SL

granted they can not monitor each and every person, so my personal opinion is someone saw them, that also sell the same thing, and decided to report to remove the competition... eventually they will get as many removed as they can

and yes he was getting sales too, and no LL did not specify which ones were no-nos so he just shut it all down.

(now he has started making swords, that way no one can say they are copyrighted as he will make up the names and does the sword design from his imagination)

If it's something that you made 100% yourself, you should have no problems with SLX.

But that is the thing.. She did make these items, 100% herself even hand drawn all the items. She even went to LLs before putting the products inworld and they had no problems whatsoever with her Avatars. I have some of her products and even do testing from time to time and I can tell. She is crushed by how they just removed and disabled her account, kept her money and still let others have their same items, even after being pointed to the items she told me to look at and there is no difference other than who designed them.

So even after talking more with her, I don't think I would list there.

I hate to say it but if you are going to LL before you put something for sale, that alone seems a bit fishy to me and probably shouldn't be sold...

I use both SLX and Onrez and have had good experiences with both. I don't sell huge amounts at either place, but I consider them part of a well thought out marketing plan. A lot of people like to browse both sites while at work and make lists of locations to visit when they get home and log in. Having your items listed is just one more avenue for people to find you and your work.

I understand trademark infrindgements, and yes, if in deed trademark infringement is happening, yes, needs to be addressed asap. In general speaking, if one individual is to be held by upholding the tos, everyone needs to be. This said, it is within the rights of a service, if someone has gone against this tos, they need to take action. I would of first asked the creator, do you have written legal rights to handle this trademark? Rather then just rip the items off market. What customer service is that... that does not investigate prior to taking action? Secondly, though perhaps this was a TM infridgement, we don't know this as to be fact since the items are not out there to be seen now: However, I do believe as one resident mentioned.... "falls through cracks"... You know, if you are going to have a business with respondsibities to your clients, and legal concerns, in my view, you should be having least one employee stictly to observe ALL entries on this site, just for this purpose alone. Trademark infringement would not be just to the creator if a lawsuit were to come of it, but to whom has supported it for it's sales. So in thought, this site would be held respondsible for all infringements, and should not focus solely on the few only that have been reported. I would say, if this is way running your business, you're running at a risk. What happens if some person were totally dismayed because they felt singled out, and took hours, days on end to track as many trademark infringements as possible. Then took the time to copy/paste url's, and find the companies involved and send them this information. All I can say, huge scandal's and many lawsuits.
Here is just a taste of how easy it is to find many in a very short time of trademark infringements:

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&CategoryID=1&SearchKeyword=betty+boop&SearchPriceMin=&SearchPriceMax=&SearchRatingMin=&SearchRatingMax=&sort=&dir=asc (used betty boop as search)

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=262838 (used mustang for search)

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=304792 (used lincoln car.. .got this vw sex car .. lol)

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=286821 (used lincoln car.. )

Now myself, a stranger to this site, just checking out... would not be hard for legal teams to do same, or a very upset creator.

Bottom line, it all needs to be cleaned up, what is for one, is for all.... good luck to your friend.

http://secondlife.reuters.com/stories/2007/06/28/coca-cola-gives-away-its-trademark-in-sl/

From: someone
“We contacted Coca-Cola to inquire and were told that they are allowing products with their trademark in SL, under certain conditions,” she said in a Second Life interview with Reuters. “They pointed out that they did not want anything overtly sexual or violent in content … Technically they haven’t ‘released’ their trademark, but they have given SL residents permission to use it.”

i find it so helpfull. no lag no rezzing. there are definately points to it.

easy to set up selling too.

one thing i am carefull about tho is adding over 1k. once i did that it took a week. so now i be carefull and only add 800 or 900 at each time

apart from that slexchange is great.
