But for the life of me I can't find a decent search response on how to import wave files. Or if its even possible? Any audio tips would be super! I have, or can make some more, umm, really hot stuff!

Uploading a sound

1. Select File > Upload Sound.
2. Select a .WAV file to upload. Valid files are any .WAV file in standard PCM format, 16-bit/44.1kHz/mono or stereo (which will be converted to mono), less than 10 seconds in length. Sounds cannot be formatted as MP3s or .WAVs in 8-bit, 22.05 kHz, or any other frequency. Sounds in other formats can be converted using third-party sound editing programs, such as r8brain.

ETA:

How much does it cost?

Uploading files to Second Life costs L$10 (ten Linden Dollars) per file. The per-file cost is deducted from your inworld balance regardless of whether you upload the files one at a time or use Bulk Upload. (The purpose of Bulk Upload is to expedite the upload process, not to save L$.)

Hehe, great thread title. :D

The requirements for sounds in SL are a little hard to find. Allow me to list them for you. In order for a sound to be usable, it must meet the following three criteria:

1. It must be in PCM WAV format.

2. It must have a sample rate of 44.1KHz, 16-bit. (Same standard as a CD)

3. It must be under 10 seconds in length.

To upload a (compatible) sound file, click File -> Upload Sound, navigate to wherever you've got the file stored, select it, and click OK. After upload, the file will appear in your inventory. From there, you can play it on the spot by double-clicking it, or you can include it in a gesture, or you can script an object to play it.

Just a heads up, wav files seem to loose volume upon uploading so you might want to boost the volume on them before uploading. I would test it with a single file before uploading a bunch of them.

There's a product that incorporates such sound files, the "Erotic Sounds HUD". Click it and you get presented with a menu of choices, just like a dance ball. Click a choice and get a series of sound bites.

It's a pretty nice enhancement for your more intimate moments. I wouldn't mind seeing some competition for it, or some add-on packages.

Sounds lose volume as you get farther from the object emitting them. When close to the object, and assuming your slider for that kind of sound is maxxed out, the volume of a well-recorded clip is fine.

Be careful about simply boosting the volume on a clip, because that can cause "clipping", which sounds very harsh and annoying. If you've recorded the clips well (that is, peaking between -3dBFS and 0dBFS), the way to get more volume is to use audio dynamic range compression.

If you have any questions about these technical audio details, just ask. If so, please say software you're using to record and process your clips, and a clue about how savvy you are about computer-based recording and audio engineering.

Sorry, I have to laugh about this one. My ex-partner bought a set of poseballs once with female sounds emitting from it. I gotta tell you, I absolutely hated them. That was the first and last time that he took them out with me. How weird is that to hear another woman's voice moaning when you're trying to be intimate with your man? Much rather use skype or voice chat and give him (well not HIM) the real thing.

Ummm the sounds I have in mind are much more "liquid" than just vocal. I'll think about selling them.

I have Windows Vista....
07-23-2008 10:04
and the sound recorder doesn't do anything but 'record and save'! Not like the Windows XP Version where you could change the volume, add echo or even make it a 44.etc.

So my question is...how do I make a sound/wav to bring into game using it?

Thanking anyone who can help in advance!

You need a sound recording and editing program! I use an old, old version of Sony's "Sound Forge", but there are tons of them out there, some of them freeware or shareware.
