I'm a cloud!

They "upgraded" the server software on my home sim today. Now when I log in using the RC viewer, I remain a cloud and much of my inventory is inaccessible. If I use the regualar 1.19 viewer I remain Ruthed. Are other pple experiencing this? Is there a problem with the asset servers. I haven't been able to effectively use SL all night. (Yes I cleared the cache)

try TPing elsewhere, clear cache again, leave SL, reboot your computer and see if that helps, nothing is happening to you that doesn't happen to thousands of SL users, today may be bad, but tomorrow will be better, but if your really unlucky tomorrow could be worse

another thing you may need to do in the new RC is reduce the graphic settings, things like draw distance etc, they all help.

Isn't the cloud supposed to be the new version of ruth?

It is and it's pretty horrible.

I've a coupletimes very rudly invaded some peoepls space because it was impossible to tell they were there till I was as well.

You know how long ruthing can last right? Now we'll have gas clouds hanging around for long periods

An incorrect body shape was better then no body at all (and of course no attachments or anything, just a small green glowing gas cloud. If boobs on shirtless guys was THAT big a problem then just recode the client to use the default male body instead :/ or come up with one that is gender neutral

What will be the new name for this now? You no longer "ruthed" your "gassed"?!?!?

Must be something wrong with my home sim that kept my inventory from downloading. I moved to another sim and it downloaded SLOOOOWLY. After my inventory finally got downloaded, I still was a cloud. But, once I logged out and back in I was OK.

I agree, Ruth is better than that stupid cloud.

I guess the Lindens might have thought that a cloud indicates better that you are no fully formed yet (ie. loaded) where as ruth just says noob instead

I have never seen the cloud so far and won't until get get the blasted viewer fixed and out of RC lol

There is much to like about the new viewer it seems, but also much to dislike also. Everytime they make big changes I cringe, though usually it feels fine after a while.

I think the cloud is pretty cool. It sorta goes with the "poofing" when people teleport or log off.

My thoughts are that anything would be better than Ruth, except totally invisible of course.

Although...being completely invisible (on demand) would be vvverrry interesting...

Nah there are already situtations when this occurs - could be confusing.

that is not to hard, there are animations that put you under the ground, you still see the foot shadows and tag but your avatar is invisable, just put the animation in your ao and your invisable.

Whether you're a cloud is based on your hair texture, so you just have to put on the right hair

Wow, really? Do you mean if you wear high prim hair, then you're more likely to arrive as a cloud?

I like the cloud effect but I wouldn't want it to persist for too long! It would be good if we could activate the cloud when we're changing outfits too. I'm not bothered about people seeing me naked but I get embarrassed about being seen with missing textures or other visual anomalies.

There was a discussion about that here a while ago. I think my favorite of the terms offered was "whisped".
