I know the competition that will come along someday is learning from LL's mistakes. But do they have to make so many? |

LOL
"*ducking the flying pies in order to come back in and comment* So yeah.....the story is written...the RPers basicaly just play a part and I think the name of the game is to solve the mystery.....except the actual ending is written. Stifling would be a good word....what's the point... if you can't elaborate on your character and evolve the story line based on the other RPers actions..... seems kind of boring to me. Like, yes, watching a play. When I did theatre in school....I was a behind the scenes prop person....I never could deal with not being able to improv. LOL Thanks for all your input... much appreciated. When I get rich I'll start my own macabre RP sim and let it spin out of control and just sit back and enjoy the show. Mwaahahaha I know of COLA and Dark City and all those places.... they're cool... but this particular place was more my style. I could care less about the pg rating or not......it was just the basic idea that was cool. So be it....perhaps in time they will relax their grip a bit. |

There are many fantasy RP's and themed sims I suggest you check: Avilion The elf circle sims (the small continent surrounding elvenglen) |

Nuno,
From what I understand about RP.....no you don't have to play every time you log on.....but depending on the role of your character....you may find you are needed at certain times and you'll get summoned if you're in-world. It really depends on you and how much you want to immerse yourself I think. *shrug* I'm no expert tho. |

City of Lost Angels is a Dark Post-apocolyptic roleplay (Lost Angels on the map) where Vampires, Demons, Nekos, Humans, Lycans and other supernaturals dwell and roam. The roleplay is freeform, some storylines are scripted but the outcomes can deviate completely from the possible scripted outcome. You take part in scripted city-wide roleplays or decide not to, you can develop your character anyway you like and interact on a level you are happy with. I have been roleplaying there for about 8 months and love it. Incidentally I play a vampire ![]() Yes, COLA is wonderful; gorgeous build, nice premise. So is Midian City, which is kind of similar and also a beautiful build. The only thing I have found about the really popular, long standing RP destinations is the difficulty joining in the RP if you are new. There are many well established sub-groups in these major RP sims and as a new player I found it very difficult to break into the existing stories. I noticed a few weeks ago that someone even posted a request in the forums to people who might want to start a new sub-group in Midian for this reason. I'm not the type to walk up to a group and say, "Hey, what's going on?" Which is why lately I've been checking out the newer RP sims, get in on the ground floor so to speak. Can I ask what your experience was Gabriele, when you first started in COLA 8 months ago? _____________________

Which is why lately I've been checking out the newer RP sims, get in on the ground floor so to speak. Can I ask what your experience was Gabriele, when you first started in COLA 8 months ago? I found that you do need to be fairly bold and at least go and say hi to people. There is little hand holding for new people. I treated the situation just like any new social group you are unfamilliar wth. I watched and listened a lot, mainly to learn how things were done. Then I got a feel for how approachable certain individuals were and at quiet times just went and had my character introduce themselves, then after my character developed a few friends I started to get included in some of the roleplays. There are a group (not an organised one) of us who will approach new people and then guide them through the startup process. As a vampire I will descend and feed upon new people a lot, not only because the responses are often fresh and wonderful but so that they get a chance to interact with someone and have good experience from the first time they come. Most vampires in CoLA do not kill, they take enough to sate themselves and leave the victim alive and able to recuperate for the next feeding. It is important at first to join a city faction and that is as easy as reading the info that comes with the combat system and finding one of the faction's officers to join up. If you are in a faction, I can guarantee that when that faction does something, you will be included. It can be training, a mission, fighting or just being sent to scout for information. I think you get out what you put into CoLA, a lot of people find it hard to break into but I think that is because either they dont have the patience to watch, learn and then start to gradually insert their contributions into the roleplay's or they just are not bold enough. I dont think it is harder than any other SL roleplay to get involved in though the seriousness and darkness of the type of roleplay often leaves people feeling the city is not friendly to new people. Often that is just the in-character feel of the place and if you talk to people OOC or in IMs you find that there are many friendly people around. You can read more about my characters story, early trials and tribulations here at the CoLA web site: http://cityoflostangels.biz/wiki/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=27&thread_id=2198#32401 _____________________
