bots (?) continuously tp-ing in and out mall

Since yesterday a few avatars are continuously tp-ing in and out the mall i am running: Ultimate Mall.
It goes on and on; sometimes 1, sometimes more .. yesterday they were undressed; today they are dressed.
It is a constant stream of them.

They al have the same day of birth.

Does anyone know what this is and what the purpose of this is?
Anything i can to do stop it apart from banning them?

Unless it's trying to mess up your traffic count somehow, from a rival mall.

Apart from banning, there isn't much you can do... it's not really AR-able because they don't appear to be doing anything.

I'll drop by and see if I can find anything out.

I'm there right now... can't see anyone let alone bots in your area (although there appears to be campers nearby) ... is there any pattern to this appearance?

yeah, i don't get it ... what purpose would something like this have?
it won't damage traffic in any way, can just increase it ... if it does not stop i'll have to ban them and hope to get rid of it that way

But I agree... its absolutely wierd, I can't for the life of me think what on earth is going on, unless it's to somehow freak out your real visitors

Traffic seems healthy though so this gang are obviously not really affecting it.

Maybe you can make it into an attraction, use them to your advantage?

Build a little shooting range around where they appear. Turn on damage. Sell tickets.

hahaha, that attraction one is a good one ...... and yes it does increase the traffic numbers but it just looks bad !!

Maybe something is wrong with a nearby welcome area. You know how sometimes you get that message upon logging in "Current Location Unavailable, Moving to a Nearby Region".

I have heard of some kind of camping scheme that involves TP's, but have no clue as to how it would work.

Don't know if it applies here, but before I bought land and set it to my home position, SL had somehow assigned me a home position of sorts that rezzed me in the middle of a mall I had been to a couple times before. Every time I logged in and forgot to change the dropdown to "My Last Location", I would end up at that mall. Shortly afterwards, I'd double-click on a TP to a place where I usually did my work (this Av is my business/builder Av) and continued on my way.

Edited to add: I remember blindly trying to set my Home Location at that mall one time and got the usual popup that you can't do that if it's not your land. However, subsequent logins using "My Home" as the choice would rez me in that mall every time.

For the past month or so there's been an avatar that comes to the sim the missus and I live on nearly a daily basis, and does nothing more than teleport from place to place on the island before vanishing into the ether. Never says anything, does anything, or intrudes really, but it's a bit unsettling just the same. The island is mainly residential, but this particular avatar has been showing up since before and commercial interests were on the island.

And back when it was a strictly residential island we'd gets avatars, sometimes individually, sometimes in pairs, who would teleport in and then proceed to fly in a circular pattern about the island, stark naked, in an ascending motion. Making wide lazy circles higher and higher into the sky (often well above 300 meters) before disappearing.

Every once in a while you just come across crazy bots that really need to head back into the shop for reprogramming.

Sounds like searchbots scanning the sim.

Do you have any land near you that has ban lines up?

I brought this to the board several months ago. One day a bunch of people started tping to my closed skybox. From their conversations they were expecting to get sex there. It took helpers giving me clues here to figure it out. None of them would talk to me, and I eventually put ban lines up in desperation.

There was a plot next to mine with a billboard and tp pads advertising sex for newbies. It turned out they had put up a classified ad for it then changed their mind (or something), then put up banlines. People would use the tp link in the ad, get blocked by the banlines, and be tped to my landing spot, in my skybox.

I changed my landing spot to the (empty) ground, took down the banlines, and forgot about it. The neighbor sold their land shortly afterward.

Your situation sounds very much like what was happening to me.

I think how this ran, a resident would get a payment for everyone they teleported to a plot. Don't know how well or if it did work as advertised.

This is almost certainly camping related. The bots TP in expecting to see a camping device, when there is none there available, they immediately TP out. If you increase the number of camping devices, they TP direct to the device. As soon as the camper reaches its max payout, they immediately TP out to another camping device on the grid.

Either campbots that see your pads full or perhaps one of your tenants has decided to increase traffic to your mall for his own benifit.
