Well meaning but wrong-headed. Does he not realise anyone including kids can do all of those things he listed in first life, too? IF they really want to?

I am not even sure he is well meaning -- many politicians simply use the "it is to protect the kids" line in order to get their own agendas pushed thru.

He seems to actually believe it, though. As well as not really understand the concept of free will.

I was a bit creeped out by someone in Zindra.

I think their av was fairly new - and they were standing in Zindra, mind you.

"What is this place? Do people have sex in Second Life? And kids can get on Second Life? Oh how terrible..." almost as a monologue.

My answers were something like, "Zindra (I thought, look up at your toolbar). Some do, if they choose to. No kids are supposed to be on Second Life, it is against the rules. Well, you can approach SL an entirely different way, and never have to go near any of that."

They seemed to keep fishing. So yeah, I think some are here to just dig for worms.

The problem is, you team up that idiot, with the idiot who complained about the word "sexy" being used in a product description and you see what the future of SL can quite possibly look like.

Right now, Chicago runs the entire country.

Maybe some good will come out of this, and derail any potential merging of the main grid with the Teen Grid.

You're assuming that LL will make the proper decision. Keep in mind the other alternative is to dumb-down SL to the point where they might as well merge the two. Of course, that would mostly be because there'd no longer be any adults in SL due to the cleansing of all things adult.

And they sometimes wind up doing it with a Congressman.

His well meaningness ends at furthering his political agenda. He's probably jockeying for a spot on the ticket in 2012.

That seems like a very unprofitable course of action, so it's probably unlikely.

they showed a hint of it in that Kennedy movie with Kevin Costner..when Kennedy was in the middle Cuban Missile crisis and dropped everything to keep an appointment to ride in a parade with mayor Daily of Chicago rather than upset him..lol

ADD THIS - I think LL would be glad if some congressman was issuing warnings about SL. There is no such thing as bad publicity. People will be like "What is all the fuss about this "Second life" game anyways?" More people dumping more money into it.
With any negative propaganda, all's it really does is make people curious of what all the fuss is about. It is like saying "don't look down", well then someone WILL do so.

These politicians think EVERYthing is a threat to the children. It is just their little cop out to say everything is evil. Well guess what? We don't live in Mayberry like Andy Griffin did.
