Yeah yeah I know, here we go again.
Please don't post in Forum Hangout IV. It needs a quick and decent burial. I'm actually wondering if we need this thread, but it's a good place for antics that might otherwise detract from RA...
Last I heard we were talking about someone (was it Sobri?) helping to set up a shoutcast so that we can take turns playing DJ if we want. Does anyone know what programs work with Windows XP versions of iTunes?

Nothing works with iTunes for Windows... not directly anyway. There may be a way to bootleg it by using the Winamp Shoutcast DSP plugin, having it in sound card mode, and then playing from iTunes, but I haven't tried that yet - I just got some decent broadcasting software (SAM4).
All any DJ will need is the broadcast password to the shoutcast account, but this should be given out with restraint - only the administrator can kick someone who is broadcasting, and if the administrator is gone, you have to rely on each other being kind and tolerant enough to not abuse the privilege of being able to stream.

Oryx has worked her butt off getting the hangout in shape. As the guy who did his work in the background, I can attest to that. I vote for giving her a vacation.

Is she taking a break or just happy the shoutcast issue is handled?
Regardless, the hangout would not exist if not for Oryx. The best thing of this whole process for me has been getting to know her, Trout and Malachi a little better. Good eggs all.

I don't know. She deserves a break for whatever reason. I don't think a lot of people know how hard she worked to get all this put together. It's easy to see the results because Chris, Inc, Mal, Annabelle and everyone else who contributed their skills did a hell of a job, but there was a LOT of work that went on behind the scenes to pull it off. She and I spent hours working on the financing, smoothing egos, disrupting egos (not that there were any egos, you all played very nicely together), looking at different builds, answering PMs here and IM's in-world, pouring over submitted ideas. She drafted the entire agenda for the open meeting and then ran the whole thing herself because I was not able to get on until halfway through it. She's a workhorse, our little Oryx. If she wants to step back, I can handle tieing up the remaining loose ends.

As a new member, I find the Handout to be positively awesome. Looks like very hard work by a whole lot of people. All should feel very proud of the accomplishments. We are lucky to have such persons dedicated to making the SL experience that much more enjoyable.

Well I'm giving myself a crash course on Shoutcast, WinAmp, etc etc so that we can have DJ nights/days at the Hangout. Once I get it figured out, I can help anyone who wants to DJ. We're going to use Sobri's station, which he's already set up.

Hey, I didn't think to tell you earlier but Vodoo is giving a pretty intensive lesson on DJ'ing. It costs 500 lindens but its well worth it - gets to the real nuts and bolts, and even walks you through downloading MySQL and SAM Broadcaster. I proved pretty nigh on hopeless but its probably the most advanced DJ training you can get on SL.

It's really good to see you are all banding together and getting something good going for a change.
I don't feel there is very much I can contribute as you have it all covered, but it's really nice watching the place take shape.

Well ....... what can i say .. its all down to me and Mal ... we did it all and everyone else is just a parasite trying to keep up *lol* Joke aside....
Everybody has things to contribute .... if you just turn up sit by the fire and thats you contributing .. you certainly dont have to be a builder ....or scripter etc. Just being there and being part of it is just as important. And one thing that needs to be understood is that you DO NOT need to be part of the clique as there isnt one..... everyone is welcomed regardless of thier in world stuff ... vamp .. neko ..gor etc ... everyone is welcomed.
What the Forum hangout IS .... is essentially a place where the people who contribute on the forum have a in world location where we can meet up and just have a giggle or provide services to those in world. We have things like changing rooms for the landless... many of the cartel have shops and skills that can come into good use and Im sure will proberly offer significant discounts to other forum folk. Its a community of passionate people with nothing in common. If you have never been .... you should come becasue it is quite funny and some times quite serious..... The location is pretty special too ... we have access to open water sims so boating is good, allthough riding on the back of Mals jetski can be somewhat hectic.
If all else fails ... just grab a slice of pie and go and sit and watch the sunset by the fire

I should have asked this before just diving in and doing it, but sorry, I got lost in the moment. What are the thoughts on adding a bar and hot tub to the firepit? I know I've already started, but its easy enough to pick up if people think it is overkill. Maybe just a small pool instead, something less imposing? If we go with the hot tub, I've come up with an idea to make the pose ball FAR less conspicious.
I was also thinking down the road that it'd be fun to have a boombox and a discrete dance machine by the beach...but don't want to go overboard...

Soen, the bar we made is (was) in place. has a bartender and everything. i put stools on it since you haven't placed yours yet. i'll pull mine later today so you can do your scripting magic. plus, they need to be adjusted. they are too tall (again). i tried the script you gave me, but couldn't get it to work. told you i am not allowed to open scripts. LOLOL i also set out that plant i was trying to find that matches your bordering flowers. let me know wut you think. easily pulled!
