Dearly Darlings,
It's bad enough cleaning dogs and equipment after dog shows. You'd be surprised how quickly something can spread at a dog show. I go through 24 gallons of Aid -X a year. kids get vacxed for Kennel Cough every six months. This does not include having to strip naked when I by accident come into contact with Parvo. I would not like to come here and have to decontaminate things here too. That is not part of "My World...My Imagination..." You all have a lovely day! Ever Yours, Mrs. Showdog Tiger _____________________

heyas;
considering there is alcoholic inebriation and various drugs, and there is pregnancy, i would think that disease could easily be next. uh, yay. :X however, inflicting the disease on non-consenting residents would probably be considered griefing, or even the first in-world computer 'virus.' (dont encourage the script kiddies.) so, unless you get a sim packed full of people who want to particiapte in disese research.... i doubt it. also consider this: how realistic is the demographical information of disease spread in a world where you can teleport any distance instantly? |

…also consider this: how realistic is the demographical information of disease spread in a world where you can teleport any distance instantly? well if you equate TP with air travel it might turn out to be very realistic, disease is about spreading by interaction, not how that interaction is achieved. on my island we have a spanking virus, something that's not completely annoying yet. |

Besides the fact that real people aren't getting sick. What value can any of it have? Ridiculous if you ask me, from any research standpoint. _____________________

Actually, there are plenty of bugs in SL. I certainly feel most unwell when my shoes go up my ass, my hair falls out and relocates to my groin, and my jewellery embeds itself in my thighs.
I die regularly with each blue screen crash (many of these lately, since my graphics card cant cope with whatever upgrade gave my computer some allergy to SL, something similar to anaphylactic shock). I look very ill when my skin refuses to rezz and i am blurred into an ebola-type mush. It would be interesting to have some sort of A/o that would simulate a cold... but I am happy to confine that to RL. One thing i haven't seen is any sort of acne skin, or rash, unless you count zombies... imogen Happily healthy-ish _____________________

Chronic Ruthitus has displayed viral airborne tendencies. If one person in an area has it, then chances are high that others arriving in that area will likewise be infected. Early symptoms include an often unseen Ruth-rash along the inner lining of an avatar's polygons...

Well of course there's Figtree's recurring case of crabs ... i guess those would be parasites, not diseases. If parasites counted as diseases, then half of my RL bf's would actually be diseases ...

I just read this article... and was wondering if SL will be one of the games they will use to test spreading of disease? That would be interesting. Sure, as long as the "disease" was merely a flag that you had been "exposed" that didn't do anything to your avatar. For all you know, such diseases already exist and have for quite some time. |

We already have disease in SL.
One of the diseases is called Griefers: It seems to be contagious. Recovery can sometimes take a long time. Fortunately its not Chronic or persistant if proper immunization steps are taken immediately following the initial attack. The other disease is called Wednesday Fixes: This disease is very persistant and Chronic and has reached pandemic levels in that it seems to affect almost all SL users. It has many symptoms that range from mild to severe usually starting late Thursday nights, runs its course thru late Monday afternoons and sometimes into Tuesday mornings with the worst symptoms happening on Saturdays and Sundays. The worst part about this disease it that it seems to easily morph into a number of other Chronic diseases: Lag, Rubberbanding, Ruthitis, Hair_Up_Yer_Bum, Falling_Thru_Ground, Inventory Loss, Complete Depletion of L$ accounts, the inability to save Notecards, Object and Payment transfer failures, TP Failure, and Search Failure. In RL it also causes severe hair loss, extreme anxiety and high blood pressure. And, although it can't be proven by our scientists yet, there seems to be a distinct correlation between Wednesday Fixes and the loss of the Help System, Concierge, JIRA, and Phone systems at the same time - thus compounding the inability to remedy any of the illnesses. Unfortunately, at this time, there seems to be no known cure for, or means of prevention of Wednesday Fixes, which fortunately, hasn't been proven to be terminal... yet. ![]() _____________________

Ha ha and prim penises will be all blotchy and limp... Not sure how well be able to tell the blotchy ones from the normal fake looking textures. But the limp part will definitely not look "normal" |

Besides Ruthitis, we already have SLeprosy.
Do we really need another disease? |
