Did you buy an AO script , an AO, which is an object with a script already in it, or just an animation?

Where there any instructions? There should be a notecard of instructions, and typically a notecard with a list of animation states and animations that you edit a bit, assuming it's a customizable AO.

What you normally should get is some kind of HUD, and a way to configure which animation is used for different overrides. Reading your description I would say you just bought a walking anumation, and not an AO unit. Don't even know wether B&B has one of those.

Your money is not spent in vain though, there are a few good free AO systems. Some come with a handful of animations included, most are configurable. So you can use the B&B one within a complete system.

Greetings Marcel

Hi CX,

The walk animation you have needs to be put into an Animation Overrider (AO). This is a scripted object that you wear. A popular free one is the ZHAO II made by Ziggy Puff - if you search on the animation forum for ZHAO you can find loads of information about it.

It is usual for animators to provide the animations to use in AOs - so you can shop about and select the walks, sits and stands that you like. You edit your AO and drag the animation fileinto the contents and usally edit a notecard to tell the script which animations to use.

Hope this helps a bit - you are welcome to IM me in world if I can help at all.

The basic (empty) ZHAO II is free. Ziggy Puff probably has a location or two where you can get one in his Picks.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

NCI keeps a blank ZHAOII in their freebie wall. Free animations are all over the place, including a few not-bad walks. I won't go as far as calling them good... (=_=)

Buying whole AOs can be expensive, but, are good quality most of the time. If they're ZHAOII based... You can usually pull the animations out to your inventory and use them to put together your own custom AO. I just added a new stand pose in my own this morning. (^_^)

I prefer to buy animations separately after seeing them on myself in a demo stand. The things I look for is the foot speed in walking, no keyboard override in poses, and sits that don't push me through the floor. Trust me... With an avatar that's usually 3'11"... Sitting is a BIG problem. (>_<;)

Plus... Find yourself a copy of Qavimator. Stand poses and sits are reeeeealy easy to make in that program, and it's free. For 10L per upload, you can be as customized as you want. (^_^)y

I have used the Sine wave hud which is free. You can also reconfigure what you want on it through there website and it connects with your hud in world. You can put any ao in that you like too. Its pretty organized and took a min or two to set up. :)

Good luck!

Ok here is the latest on my AO quest and the Lindens Spent

Animation walk from Bits and Bobs $L90 (lost when transferring to HUD)

Huddles HUD $L1500 Full of animations but doesn't work as expected. Very complicated and requires special notecards to load. Also I have to turn on walk and quickly start walking to avoid the running in place effect. Then turn it off when I stop.. Running in place effect sucks.

Abranamtions (sp) Basic package of animations #2 $L700. Nice animations and they all work.

ZHAO II AO Freebie. Requires a note card of some kind to set it up. I didn't have time to find the missing card.

Sine Wave AO Freebie Connects to a website where you build a play list of animations. Easily set up. I loaded the Abra animations (24 of them) into a play list. With everything set up I wore the Sine Wave AO and my avatar started doing each animation in the list over and over again. Looks funny but required another tool to make it stop doing the play list.

I removed the play list and installed only only the Abra walk animation. Now I can walk. I press the up arrow and walk in a new style. When I lift my finger from the key the avatar stops moving but keeps walking in place. (looks stupid) To stop the animation I have to lift my finger from the key and touch the opposite key to stop walking in place. The avatar makes a sideways backup motion and stops walking. I never seen other avatars do this.

Morgaine Alter - PRICELESS Morgaine worked with me for two hours helping me with the SineWave and showing me some cool animation shops. Morgaine also gave me a cool hug / kiss HUD and I repeatedly tested it on her Avatar.

I haven't given up on the AO process. I am mostly disappointed. If I understand correctly if I configure a HUD or AO the animations loaded in it should replace the lame 2L animations provided with the stock Avatar. To the casual observer they would only see a cool dude.. not someone without control of his avatar.

Morgaine is a lady and I only hugged her. Like I said PRICELESS. She may have a boyfriend with a stomp another avatar's butt in the ground animation and I don't want him on my case.

ZHAO II AO Freebie. Requires a note card of some kind to set it up. I didn't have time to find the missing card.

It should include a notecard named Default. Add the name of your walk animation to the [ Walking] line of that notecard, drag your walk animation into the HUD, wear it, use either the reset or load menu to make it read the notecard, and you're good to go.

If you managed to pick up a copy that's missing the readme or default notecard, the complete kit is at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Winged%20Isle/32/83/47

The card is usually already in the AO. You need to drag the AO to the floor, click on it and choose "edit". Then go to the "contents" tab and double-click the notecard to edit it. Type in the names of the animations that you're going to put in the AO, save the notecard, and then drag the animations from your inventory into the contents of the AO. Reason you have to edit the notecard - when you wear the AO, the notecard tells the AO which animations to load & use.

It's easy to use and configure - a friend walked me through it. If you need help, let me know, I can meet you in-world. After all, two heads must be better than one! ;)

The Default card was not there. So I planned to go find one. It was a choice between Morgaine helping me or searching for a notecard. Guess which one I picked.

Dylan, well done. I can't wait to try it when I get the default card for the ZHAO.

CX, I have dropped you the complete ZHAO-II kit inworld, you should receive it when you next log in... if you don't get it, let me know. It comes with a notecard containing instructions, and even pictures of the menu and everything.

If you need help with setting up the AO (editing notecard etc.), let me know.
