When I was a newbie in SL, purple seemed to be the most popular color anywhere I went (specially on avs), latelly I've got the impression black has taken it's place (though I must admit I haven't logged as often as I did back then, and haven't gone out exploring as much either)
Has anyone else noticed this tendency?

I've always worn a lot of black inworld, so I'm not sure it's a new thing. The only time I've ever really seen purple being worn is at Purple Events at clubs. _____________________

Oh no! I wear all black when I have my purple skin on. I like black and white and between, clothes are of too many dissonant shades and they are hard to match. Real clothiers steal colors from their rivals and things can match. I do not see that happen much on Second Life

Well purple must have gone out then just a few months after you joined. I joined in early '07 and thought even then black was the cliche color for SL. I thought it just reflected the still ongoing (and to me puzzling) prominence of goth and vampires in popular culture.

hm...perhaps it was the places I frequented...dunno, i have the clear memory of noticing a surprising popularity of purple in proportion to other colors in several different places (I don't remember most of the places in specific). black was indeed close, I think white might have been in third place

When I joined, the default female avatar had a purple shirt, so a lot of newbies wore purple.
Personally, my Ceera avatar rather likes purple, and one of my alts, Ceera Magic, is *mostly* purple (Except for some white and black markings, and her green eyes, which are sort of a "tell" for Ceera) - a three-tailed Kitsune with purple fur, purple hair, and purple clothes!  For the most part, however, my closet has a fair range of colors. Mostly I go for purple, black, red, blue, and white. because these look best on a red-furred lady fox. But I also have a few yellows and teals and greens and less-intense colors. _____________________

I've always worn a lot of black, both in rl and sl. I do see more black inworld lately but not sure which I see more.
both my rl and inworld wardrobe are dominated by dark colors. Been like that since my teenage years. _____________________
