From: Deira Llanfair No, I still do not know what was meant. I could guess at reputed or retarded or regarded - but it might have a specific Gorean meaning. She meant "repudiated". The definition is left as an exercise for the student.

I also know of a wonderful training sim that welcomes any that are respectful and truly curious. The Head Scribe there teaches some wonderful classes on Free Women as well. *smiles*
Czari, I too am interested in learning more about this. My boyfriend and I are thinking of exploring it with our alts. Me as a free woman only. But I definitely would like to know more about it. May I IM you in-world to ask questions? |

Merci to Bilbo, and Eve, I am honored to be so thought of by people i respect.
Marianne is quite right about the Ratios of Free Women, to Slaves Both in the books and On line. The part about SL Gor that has always choked me off is their Continuous Chants of trying to create the Truest Gorean Environment in SL. On Gor, free Women are Honored, treated with respect because, Even when they are forceful, Like Myself, they Always remain within the Guidelines of propriety. It is Not, for example a "Collaring Offence" for a Gorean Free Woman to be Disrespectful to a male. Where most of the SL Goreans got that idea, I have no Knowledge, It never came from the books. When i held Office, I Did avoid being Openly Insulting, But then, there are many ways of Suggesting someone is an *ss without coming right out, and saying it. Guiding them gently to make that conclusion for themselves is Most Effective.
It is Common in Most Major Gorean City States (According to the books) That All Free Men, Regardless of rank rise to their feet when a Free Woman enters the Room, and Retake their seats Only after she does, or Bids them do so. In Three years of SL Gorean Society, i have yet to see that done in a single "Purist" Gorean City.
I'm going to Search my notecards for a case i oversaw when i was a Magistrate, and Hopefully Post portions of it here (Names deleted of course) A Gorean free Woman had transgressed beyond All reasonable Interpretations of proper behaviour, To a point where she faced Execution (Perma ban from the Sim) I Spared her the Perma ban, in favor of a suspension, But in my Discussions with her i laid out what it was, What it meant to be a Gorean Free Woman. Her role, her rights, and her responsibilities, Not only to herself but to All free women Everywhere. I'll see if i can Find it, because, if i could get her to see the Error of her ways, after her agregious behaviour, i think i hit the nail pretty solidly on the head. being a free woman isn't about Subservience, but it IS very much about Self Discipline. We are Honored, and respected Because We Deserve It.
At least in a proper Gor Environment. The Role players have other values.
