It always happens that way. After lunch on Friday some bean-counter or boot licker wants to look good so he/she tries something stupid. The system crashes and pisses everyone off. The worker-bees are upset so they just piddle with it until shift change.
The next shift comes on, they see it is a simple problem. They kick the server and get credit for saving the day.
At least that is how it was when I worked shift work many moons ago.

"CX" and that sounds about right heh I feel like a kid at the candy store, except I am on the outside looking in, nose pressed against the window, knowing that what is inside I want... but can not have on a side note, you watch, next weekend when I am away, SL will work perfectly!

I was going to bail from work early to go home an play around in SL. I'll probably still bail out early just cuz, but guess I'll have to be happy with playing in the forums.

This is why its broke:
05-30-2008 12:08
Update 2008-05-30 09:20 : The rolling resart is complete (as of about 1/2 hour ago). Update 2008-05-29 17:00: We’re updating some of the central systems to 1.22 over the next hour or so.
---------------------------------
Last night they updated the central systems, and this morning they did a rolling restart.
So some combination of the 1.22 changes, and the increased load from a restart broke SL.
The sims need to reload stuff (textures, animations, etc) after a restart. That puts a load on the system, and as more players arrive during the afternoon, this load gets higher and higher till it breaks. My theory is after a restart, an empty sim doesnt immediately fetch all its assets. It sits there "idling" till someone arrives, and then goes and gets the stuff it needs. Having fetched that stuff, it keeps it locally as long as its running.
