I know it must be so simple but I just can't seem to wear anything I get from a store or Noob Island. I click on the box at Noob Island (or store) get the outfit I want, but then when I go to inventory to try it on, there is a brown box and if I select wear, I actually have the box of the advertisement around me not the outfit.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have searched to see if there is any info about it but could not find anything.

LOL, Delta, I did the same thing when I first came on SL. Don't select "wear", take the box out of your inventory onto the floor and then right click on it and select open and copy to inventory. Once it's in your inventory then select it and choose wear.

The one instance in which wearing the box is actually useful is if you want to unpack a box in an area that doesn't allow build. Wear the box, right-click and select "edit," then drag the items one at a time into a folder you've set up in your inventory. Detach the box when you're done and it goes back into inventory.
(I forget which it is, but it won't work on one of no-transfer or no-copy items. I think it's no-copy. Still comes in handy sometimes, though.)

Actually, it works for no-copy items, too (no-transfer doesn't matter here, AFAIK). You just can't drag such items at once together with the copyable items. Instead, you need to drag all of these no-copy items separately. |
